I just built a new computer and I'm having some stability issues. Ive built several computers but this is a first for me.
The problem:
The machine is fine until I get into gaming with it and at that point I usually get vpu crashes or lockups (shortly after the lockup my monitor usually loses signal).
System Specs:
Thermaltake Damier w/ 420w thermaltake psu
3500+ Athlon 64
Asus A8V Deluxe
2x 512mb Corsair XMS
9700 Pro AIW
Audigy 2 zs
2x 80gig WD sata
2x 120gig WD
Sony dvd
Sony dvd+-r
What Ive tried:
1. Swapped out ram
2. Swapped out video card
3. Swapped out Motherboard and cpu with 3.2e & IC7-Max3
4. Turned of AGP fast writes
5. Windows reinstall
That pretty much means Ive swapped out everything but the PSU and I still have the problem. I know the other parts are good because they are running in my other computer. Temperatures are also good.
Im thinking that the 420w psu is just being over worked. I have a lot of drives in this machine and thats not counting the fan/temp controller & display, the case lights or the 7 fans. Also Ive never used a thermaltake psu before so Im not even sure how they compare to others out there as far as rating and actual output.
Im probably just going to pick up an Antec 550w psu and give that a shot but I thought before I did Id see if anyone has any thing else I should try.
