What makes a PSU i7 compatible? I have seen some listed as compatible but others just don't say. I need a new PSU and am looking at the Corsair 620HX(Ithink that was the model) and I want to make sure I can use the PSU in a couple 3-4 months when I go i7.

Any differences in the ones not listed as "compatible"

Nothing. It's just marketing. A PSU is a PSU and there is nothing special that would make one particular power supply "compatible" with the i7 while making another "non-compatible."

The Corsair 620HX is a very good PSU. Just make sure the unit you plan to get will have enough wattage for your i7 build.

Yeah, just make sure its powerful enough and you will be fine. I'm still using my old enermax liberty and its not had any problems.

Thanks for the replies , guys. It's still kind of a toss up between the 620 and the 750. As for the 4pin/8pin - I do need the 8pin. I haven't bought an x58 board yet. Are they 4 or 8 pin? I will be running a Blood Iron for now and it is 8pin.

They're 8Pin

Like Danny already said, you don't actually need the 8-pin. A 4-pin connector will fit into half of the 8-pin socket and will work fine. However, it's better to use an 8-pin if you've got one. And pretty much all newer quality PSUs have 8-pin connectors, so that isn't much of a concern anyway.
