PSU Heat Related Issue

After many months of diagnosing random crashes with my PC, I've discovered the PSU to be the problem. Most notably, when I have the case cover on, the PSU gets very hot and will cause the crashes. When I take the case cover off, it remains nice and cool and my system is very stable. The PSU I have is the Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W

I don't have any fans blowing air into the case right now and I think this may be my problem. Admittedly with the case cover on, there is little airflow into the case - other than the CPU, chipset, and PSU fans just moving the air around. With my old PSU I didn't have any problems with stability whatsoever - even with the case cover on.

I'd like any suggestions on what other people have discovered with heat issues and if adding a fan to the front of the case will help with the heat issues.

Thanks

Kyle

No fans in a case is like setting your components out in the hot sun with no breeze.
Absolutly essential, a front case fan will help. It cant be junk though, get a fan that moves some air :)
