PSU heat output question

I recently replaced my 945 mobo with a G31 variety. Everything else in the rig was unchanged (see sig). Power draw at the wall (kill-a-watt) at idle/load has been the same within a few watts. The PSU is isolated in it's own chamber with an open grille above it.

I've noticed that the PSU fins are noticeably hotter under idle or load conditions than before. Ambient temps are perhaps a degree or two F higher.

Is it possible the new board is pulling juice from different rails to account for the change in heat output?

It is unlikely that your power draw changed considerably in any way, and since you're pulling about the same power from the wall, the PSU won't be producing any more heat. Either you're just making a mistake and the PSU isn't producing any more heat, or something in your case layout is causing the PSU to intake more hot air which is bringing up its internal temperature.
