PSU hacking: 12v PCI-Express

I'm planning to put this PSU in my DTX gaming system. The issue at hand is that this PSU has only one PCI-Express plug, while my HD6850 requires 2.

I think, though that I've come up with a solution to my problem but I'd like to run it by you guys first.

So, I'm using an AMD motherboard, which uses only half of the 8-pin EPS line. Also, consider that I don't intend to use any internal drives other than the single SATA SSD my system is currently on. All other drives are external for simplicity. From this I'm left with several sets of power cables that would otherwise be left bundled up in the empty drive bay.

My question is this: what are the less-than-obvious risks of repurposing those unused 12v lines as a second PCI-Express power feed?

One that does come to mind is the issue of 12v rails. I admit to not knowing much about this. If I understand correctly, more than likely the main PCI-Exp line is on it's own rail, while everything else is on a separate one (at least in my mind it is, I could be way off base here). That said, 12v is 12v, and as far as my limited knowledge is stretching here, I *should* be okay with doing what it is I intend to do.

Bottom line: am I going to fry my equipment if I use 2 different internal 12v supply lines for the same video card?

Why aren't you just going to use the standard molex to pci-e converter cable that comes with almost every video card?

I have lots of those, but not much room in the case. It's a Lian-Li PC-Q08. Not to mention I absolutely hate adapter pieces with every fiber of my being. It's all about presentation.

More importantly, that route is too easy.

Edit:
I should mention that I do intend to hack this PSU up anyway for a sleeving/shortening job. I figure the extra EPS lines might as well go to some use other than being nipped inside the PSU's body. Same thing with the extra standard molex lines.

I've got another serious mod in mind for the case, but that's for another day.

Wow, how did I miss that... Did not notice that it has the 2 PCI-Exp. lines. I have had my derp moment of the day.

I definitely like that idea a little better. Still gonna chop it up either way though.

Problem = Solved.
