Here is what we are talking about.

Im thinking this thing absolutely has to suck since i have never heard of this brand, and if they go to the trouble of making this 900 watt psu, the least one would think they would do is make it sli certified, just for the saleability aspect. One of the guys i met on another site instant messages me and asks me what he should get for a psu , then finds this thing after i tell him to get a reputable name like antec, ocz or something like that. He orders this against my recommendations. and then goes all my psu pwnzors yours on me. I told him to let me know when his comp burns so i figured id get more opinions than my own to let him know.

Take a look at the quality PSU's around (Silverstone, OCZ, etc...) and what the price tags are. A 900W PSU for less than 150.00 should tell you about the quality.

I posted about this very same PSU in a thread titled with the name of it...it's on this page even.

That said the PSU is built by a reputable manufacturer for MGE (They own XG) and the PSU it looks to be based off of is rated at 750W (Same rail specs) by the mfg. Not 900W but respectable still yet. I've had mine open and it's a quality affair, has PFC and is very well built.

One drawback is that it's marketed as fully ATX/BTX compliant but it's only a 24 pin power connector so if you've got a mobo with 20 pin power you'll have to let the extra 4 pins run wild and if there's anything in the way (Tightly packed componentry on a motherboard? Dear god no!) of those 4 pins hanging off the end you will have to get an adaptor which isn't included.

I don't think your friend's PC is going to spontaneously combust any time soon, well, at least from the PSU.
