I was wondering if anyone could recommend a really short (depth wise) psu for a x-qpack. Reason is I am trying to mod one to house one of these enclosures in there. Want to have a small footprint server ala mashie.org's UDAT. Any recommendations are appreciated.
 
I'm using an Antec TruePower and it gives enough clearance. TruePower2.0 is of same size too.

I'm going to use the Zalman 7000B Cu. I was told by so many ppl that it's like "THE" cooler to get haha.

btw OKK77, how's the heat on those HDD? The outer one is so close to the plexi glass of the cover... and they are so close together.
 
7000B is so overpriced here in Singapore. *sigh*

The heat is bearable for my normal use.
 
omg lol, i can't believe I responded to a PSU question thread with a cooler answer. :p

Well, I think the PSU that come stock with the case is pretty short no? I was able to fit my Plextor 716A (one that a lot of ppl say is really long) in there with plenty of room to spare.

I don't know what you're power needs are but that enclosure you're looking to put in there seems LOOONNNGG! You can use a MATX PSU with an adapter bracket but I think those are only available up to 300W.
 
We use that Aspire Qpack case in our Viiv certified Intel Digital Home and Media Center Xpress systems. I can tell you even with the slim liteon drive these are two powersupplies that we tested that will not fit: The Antec 500w Phantom (far to long), and the Enermax Liberty 500w (the case bracket interfered with the power out port). Cool case huh?
 
the majority of use just use a dremel, diagonal cutter, or in my case, a good pair of nail clippers to cut that piece of the case off so we can fit psu's that have the cable port on the left side. it has no affect on the integrity of the case at all.
 
thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunately I bought mine without the stock psu. Any other suggestions are appreciated.
 
The stock PSU is crap. A modular PSU like NeoHE will make cable management a lot easier.

Couldn't that just be removed with a dremel considering what a great powersupply it is?
 
^ yea there are a number of people on this forum who said they have used the enermax liberty 500W w/ their X-qpacks without mentioning a problem. Guess it depends on the length of the optical drive? I heard enermax will make you custom length cables if you call them up...if that is true then that might be a good choice.

Anyone try the Silverstone Strider/ Enhance 2Xeon? They are also modular.

that psu is like twice the size as the stock psu. so big that youll probably have to cut the drive cage to even put it in. its HUGE.
 
FSP Bluestorm 550 or 500 are the best all around PSU that fits nice and smug in the case with plenty of room left over... i use the 500 for my system in my qpack.

what do you do with all the extrra cables. FSP allways seem to give you really really long cables.
 
I just used a pair of pliers to bend the metal tab out a touch and allowed the liberty to fit perfectly

If you use just a single 5.25" bay, hide the wires in the unused bay.
 
I just got my new Qpack today. The PSU that came with it has dual 12v rails and a 24 pin mobo connector. I know the old PSU's were crap but,...anyone know how this newer one holds up? (I'm holding on to it as a last option backup...I put an Enermax Liberty 500w in it)
 
24 pin psu in the qpack? Nice. I get mine tomorrow and I hope mine has that. My other qpack psu works great in my socket A system.
 
I know that many use the Enermax liberty but I am not sure if its depth is short enboughnto allow for the hot swap.
