PSU for RTX 2070

Hello,

I’m currently running this build. The plan is to upgrade to a RTX 2070. Below are the 2 options I’m considering.

Both cards recommend a 550W PSU, which is exactly what I have but I’m afraid that may be cutting it too close? Should I upgrade my PSU to accommodate the new card?

Also, aside from the size, I don’t really know the differences between the 2 cards. Any advice on a selection would be greatly appreciated.

These RTX 2070 cards are like 175W TDP and 200W after OC (raising DTP limit and running Furmark). Founders Edition variety is 230W max.
On 500W PSU you could run Vega 64 if it is any good which Corsair should be.

For comparison:

I run my 230W RTX 2070 with OCed Ivy Bridge and 4 HDD (not including SSD's) on 500W PSU
Radeon 7950 ran fine on this setup and this card was HOT

Imho you can skip PSU upgrade this time around

You should be completely fine.
edit: fwiw, my system power consumption does not exceed 350w on a 1070 + overvolted intel CPU which draws around 125w when heavily stressed.

Still haven’t made a decision between the Ventus and Armor. There’s shockingly little information on the differences on Google...

Aside from size, what are the differences?

Assuming the Armor runs cooler? What about the power connectors? Armor has an extra one but that’s only for OC? I don’t plan to OC at all, if that matters.
