Need a simple question answered. I am building a common IC7-max3 system with 3.0c proc, 9600xt, blah blah blah, will be overclocking and I am not up to par on the correct and stable PSu to get, fill me in please.

antec, sparkle, enermax, pc power and cooling.. take your pick 350watt range should be fine but I always opt for the 4xx models just to be on the safe side.

Boards designed for the Pentium 4 are designed to use the 4 pin ATX12V connector and its +12 V lines specifically for power delivery to the processor. It is very important to select a power supply that is capable of delivering at least 18 A of current from the +12 V rail while under heavy load.

You simply cannot go wrong with a PC Power & Cooling 510 deluxe. It's probably overkill for your particular application, but if you plan on hitting the 12V rail hard it's easily the top choice.

I have had Antec True Powers for a long time and I love them. I have one in each of my systems...

I run a True Power 550 Watt now just for the simple fact is I will never run out of power...

I say if you get the 430watt version, you will be set :D

My top choice would be the Fortron FSP550-60PN. It has a +12 V rail dedicated to only the CPU, handling up to 18 A. Then it has another separate +12 V rail that can handle another 18 A, independent of the CPU load.

I run the Antec TruePower 550W in my dual rig, selling off my dual parts when prescott arrives.

Just buy the 24 to 20 pin adaptor since it's a Xeon PS.

Got rid of that true power 550 junk. 12v was down to 11.5 loaded, 3.3v was @ 3.15, but the 5v was alright.

No pots inside to bring it back up to spec.

Fortron im using now handes above spec, My 3.3v line Tweaked up to 3.5.

Voltages are rock stable, They barely move on HW doctor.

My last Truepower ran just fine...Maybe the 550W aren't as good as the lower ones...

True Powers are great reasonably priced PSUs. If you don't want to spend that much, look at Zalman or Channelwell.
