my friends current PSU is the one that came with his coolermaster centurion case. its roughly 350w. he'd like a powersupply that can run his current system, is efficient, and be able to run 8800gt in the future. he doesnt plan to run SLI in the future though. his budget is around 100.

edit: he said modular would be nice as well

thanks in advance for any help!

Wouldn't he have to get a new motherboard to support PCI-e 2.0? I honestly don't know.

thats an excellent question to which i dont have answer to and he probably doesnt either. i guess this means a trip to the videocard area

you don't need to worry about getting a new mobo for the 8800GT. PCIe 2 is backwards compatible 100%.

yes sir it does

Ok I have (and love) one of these boards. The deal with it is though if you are going to use the onboard audio you have to have a power supply that has the -5v rail still. These are getting few and far between. The Corsair's do not have the neccesary rail so if sound is needed those kind of go out the window. Let me know if you will be using the onboard audio and I scratch around hte office and see which units i have reviewed have the -5v still (well the ones that dodn't suck anyway ;) )
