I recently purchased an ultra 600w power supply for my new build.
Specs are:
Dual intel xeon 3.4 GHz 800 FSB processors
4 dvd rw drives
1 7and 1 media reader including a 3.5" floppy
2 Hard drives
ati all in wonder 9800 series video card
1 pci ide controller card
1 3/5 port firewire/ usb card
1 ncch-dl mombo
Any way problem is my 12vpower supply. It is only 4 pins and mombo has an 8 pin. I already have an enermax psu built for dual xeon on the way which has an 8 pin 12v cable. $250 bucks mind you. I set my mombo on its box and put the 20 pin connector in and turned it on for about 8 seconds and my heatsinks did not come on so i turned it off. I then realized that the psu fans did not turn on. Even when the psu is plugged in alone no fans turn on. Is this normal. I have to say that i am concerned that my processors or mombo are shot but i don't beleive that to be the case. I am still waiting for the enermax psu to arrive but i just want to see that everything is installed right up to this point. I read elsware that i could attach the 4 pin connector to the 8 pin connector without an issue is that true or should i remain patient and wait.
