Ok guys I need to power the 172watt pelt on Dangerden's website. 24v at 12amps. Where can I get a PSU that will do that without having to spend 180+ dollars.

I dont think you can get a PSU to power that under 180, but remember one thing, when it comes to pc products you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap PSU you'll prolly regret it in the long run.

search on ebay for "12v power supply", there are a bunch of them starting at $20. or look somewhere else, the internet is at your disposal...

Remember that your going to have to run that on a different plug, 12A is a lot and you may blow the 15A breakers in most homes (that means no lanning with that thing! :D )

It doesn't take 12 amps of AC current to transform into 12 amps of DC current, you can't make a direct translation like that. For example, a PC power supply may be able to supply upwards of 40A to the 5V line, or 20some amps to the 12V line. 120VAC drawing 15A is really quite alot, that's 1800Watts of power  Compare to the 288 (24Vx12A) that the peltier needs... and it doesn't seem so much.
