Got my new comp fired up, went into windows, turned it off to boot off CD, comp wont turn on. :eek:

When I flip the switch, the mobo lights up, then turns off. at the same time the lights in the room blink.

Does this mean my PSU is shorted it out? I unplugged everthing from it, same thing. also tried a different outlook.

So, any ideas?? Is my PSU dead?
 
Try unplugging it from everything inside the computer and shorting together the green wire and any of the black wires on the motherboard connector. If you have a multimeter, check the voltage on the molex connectors and see how close they are to spec. +/- 5% is the tolerance; if it's outside that it's no good.

 
Thx for the reply, I got it working. It was a loose 24 Pin connection, corrected the issue by bending a couple of the pins.

Its kinda weird though that the lights flicker when the psu turns on. :eek:
