psu/cut out problems

It seems whenever I do something the least bit demanding on my computer it completely cuts out. Then i have to reach back, flip the switch off and on, then press the power button again. 1st thinking it was cpu temp (asus probe said 56 idle, but sandra said 43, i went with sandra afterwards) i re-applied arctic silver 5. no luck. then i went on a driver/bios update spree. nothing. some days i can run games for 5 hours at a time, others i can run a game for 60 seconds. i have a 300w psu with the following system:

Athlon Xp 2400+
Corsair 512 DDR ram
Asus A7v8x-x mobo
asus radeon 9600se
80 GB WD HD
old cd drive
3 case fans
1 front led
1 heatsink fan

Doesn't sund like a PSU prblem... try adding a few more HDs, then copy huge files between them. Run prime95. If the cumputer crashes practically instantly, you ahve a too weak PSU.

well little grabbi, i started a 1 hour stress test in prime 95 and sure enough, click.

i have a 350w at my mom's house so i guess i'll be swapping

i'll post the result

EDIT: i still cant explain how sometimes i can go for a long time and others 5 mins.

i unplugged all my fans (not the heatsink) and opened up my case to save a little power might help, might not

Try running the system with just 1 HD, and no optical drives. Then do another torture test.

switched out the psu with a 450w, still cuts out

now i think it just cuts out randomly, i opened the start menu and it went

its on my last nerve, its my 1st fully built custom comp and I can't even get it working properly. I threw $700 total into it and I wont be coming by that kind of money again in a long time.

Maybe one of you guys will have the fix.

I'm thinking it the mobo, though ive checked it over and over again.
