PSU Connection Questions

I'm running an 850W PSU now, but due to some cable management issues, I wanted to be sure what was "safe"...

- Is it safe to have six or seven case fans all connected to the same multi-plugged 4-pin connector?

I've been doing that for a while on my other PSU, but just wanted to make sure that one output can handle that without causing a strain. I could run half the fans on another plug, but I already have a ton of cables I'm trying to keep from cluttering-up my system as possible.

- Also, how safe is it to bend the mobo power cable, like in a "S" shape?

Trying to run it through the other side of my case with everything else, but it's thicker than on my other PSU, so even though it didn't look crimped, want to make sure nothing really. Also, it'll get a little "smooshed" when I put the door on.

It's an Antec 1200 case, so it has the open slots on the side to run cables out and back in.

Bending cables isn't too bad, but make sure you aren't putting any serious torque on the mobo.

Nope, doesn't put any hard torque on the mobo, but does need a rather sharp "s" curve to come in from the other side of my case and connect to the mobo, so I don't know if that's too stiff or not. Maybe it's just because the cable is wrapped in that really stiff outer shielding.

How about having all my fans on one connection?
Not sure if that's an issue, since fans don't pull that much, but just to be sure I figured I'd ask.

Bending the cables is fine, and putting several fans on a single connector is fine as well, as long as you don't go too overboard.

I would like to just jump on this a little bit. The OP said six or seven fans on 1 connector. I would check the amperage that the fans draw (most are well under 1 amp). The max you want to go is about five amps. I know this is the extreme case, but if you threw 6 or 7 of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835213006 on a single molex connector you would have a problem.

If nothing else is on the molex then you are probably safe. If you want to be certain grab the wires with your hand just before the first fan. If this is warm than you have overloaded. If not then you should be fine.

i have an antec 1200. all case fans are plugged together and are just fine. youd have to have some pretty hefty fans to get worried about that.

putting an "s" curve in the 24pin connector is a pretty standard thing when you're routing cables through the back. you really cant avoid it. wires dont like constant bending back and forth....that causes them to break. but unless youre doing this on a constant basis again its nothing to worry about.

Case fans typically use 0.2-0.5A each. Seven fans would be a total current draw of about 3.5A. Even 5A is completely fine for a single wire.
