OK Guys,

I am selling parts of my current rig configured as a complete system in order to help fund my Athlon 64 setup.

Here are the specs of the rig I am selling

AMD 2500+ (Barton-locked) easily OC'd to 3200+
Thermalright SP-97 All Copper Heatsink
Abit NF7-S Rev. 2
512MB 3500 Mushkin Blk Lvl 2
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB with Arctic VGA silencer
Western Digital 80 GB 7200 RPM 8mb Cache
Crappy old fulltower case with sparkle PSU
Crappy old CD-RW 12x10x32 and crappy old DVD-ROM
Floppy

I have some concerns about the PSU I am going to sell this rig with. It comes from a build I made in 2000. It is a Sparkle and is rated at 250W. However, it seems to be running the rig just fine (Overclocked too.) I even played Counter Strike Source for an hour and a half to stress it.

My question is, do you think it will hold up? I would hate to sell this system only to have it die on the person. I checked the rails in the BIOS, and they seemed to be ok. I sometimes think that people go overboard when they recommend these 550W PSUs, so maybe this one will be fine.

I also have a "Value Line" PSU rated at 300W that I could use alternatively.

What do you think?

I forgot to add that these older PSUs don't have that extra "ATX12V1" line on them. You know, the one that has four pins in a square shape. I am running the rig right now without that and it seems to be doing fine. Is it optional to have power connected to that area?
 
Here is what I would do: list the exact specs of the power supply in the sale ad. Don't worry about it dieing. anyone who buys something used is always taking that kind of chance anyway. As long as you are a brutally honest seller, I see no problems.

However, not connecting the 4 pin connector to the motherboard is a mistake and I'm surprised that you haven't had any problems. Before you sell the rig, go out to you local computer shop and pick up an adapter that converts a standard molex plug into the 4 pin adapter. Yes, they do exist and I've held them in my hand.

Connect it to the motherboard and you ahould be all set.
Sparkle Power makes decent power supplies and you should be fine.

But get that adapter. Good Luck!
