I have a microatx computer i'm building and i've been looking for a microatx psu and someone sent me this link

its a ahanix 300 silenx matx psu x198
http://www.axiontech.com/prdt.php?src=PW&item=58604

i like the fact that it is quiet but i don't know what the ampage is and i can find nothing on this power supply on the internet

if anyone knows please tell me, or if you know of a better power supply that is quiet that would help to

what kind of ampage would i need in my 12v, i'm worried about my radeonWestern digital 80GIG special edition
winfast 2000xp
biostar m7ncg-400
ati radeon 9800pro 128
barton 2500 plan to overclock to 2.2ghz

http://www.ahanix.com/psu.html

3.3V 28.0A
5.0V 30.0A
12.0V 12.0A

to recommend a better PSU Id really need to know what your tryng to power
that PSU is obviously geared toward powering a mobo that employs the +5V rail to power the CPU, and that isnt what most P4 or AMD processors are being powered off of currently
it could be short on the +12V rail

ok i found something in a forum that 16amps is the minimum for my graphics card
so i have to find something better then that x198

any suggestions?

takaman's Power Supply Calculator ver 2.00
Power Consumption of Contemporary Graphics Accelerators. Part I: Graphics Cards on ATI Chips

run the numbers and cross check to the article
then post them back
generally I deduct 1\3rd of the rated amps of a supply for the decresed capacity that operating at 40C represents
(compared to the temperature it was rated at being 25C)
and leave the difference between the theoretical maximum represented in a calculator with the real life draw (which is never that much) as the safety margin

then we can go shoppin once the numbers are good
and you have a rough budget

i guess i forgot to menion something
i'm not very smart
i have no clue how to do what your asking.
i was just hoping someone could throw out a power supply

I'll walk you through it, its really not that hard
give me a sec

give me any other components your powering
RAM how many MB and its speed
ect

picture

so this is what i gues i'm supposed to be looking at
i don't understand i don't think

biostar m7ncg-400
Radeon 9800 pro 128
barton 2500 OC at 2.2ghz
winfast 2000xp
2X256 pc3200 corsair platinum

err...kind of doubt your building that solely off a RAMdrive :p

any opticals drives, HDDs, mouse, keyboard ect?

just a western digital 80 gig special edition
assume i'll get a nicer mouse

i"m not very good at this

yes, one dvd\cd-rw
also a thermaltake a1745 volcano 12 heatsink and fan

directron_1804_1659074

Biostar M7NCG-400 socket A motherboard
Barton 2500 OC 2.2GHZ
ATI radeon 9800pro 128mb
Western Digital 80 GIG special edition
winfast 2000 xp
2X256mb corsair pc3200 w/platinum heat spreader
Thermaltake a1745 volcano 12 Heatsink and Fan
Sony DVD CD-RW combo
keyboard
mouse

I added 2 additional 80mm 4500rpm fans

+3.3V .....7.2A
+5V .......15A
+12V.......14.6A
+3.3V&+5V combined 98.8 watts
+3.3V, +5V & +12V Combined 275.1 watts
Total Output 285.1 watts

so in a reliable budget category like a Fortron
Id recommend
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-104-968&depa=0
just got one to power my brother new computer very similar to yours (without the capture card) has 28A peak on the +12V rail, which if we deduct 1\3rd is 18.6A a very nice safety margin
a prime example of the watts dont mean Jack problem a 300 watt Fortron (per the calculator)

having only

youll need to give me some time here Im on microwave broadband and there are very heavy showers between me and the tower, the only time my conncetion slows down

I think i lost my very helpful friend for right now

anyone else wanna comment on this power supply

eg285sx-vb (W) SFm

I believe it says 20amps on the 12+rail and i think thats what i'm supposed to be looking for the most

Thats an atx though
but that information is extremely useful thank you so much for going out of your way to help me
that is the most useful thing i could ever ask for
i need a microatx power supply
which is why i'm having such a hard time

your looking at microATX too?
Enermax is another brand Id recommend provided the specs fit
thats a good supply and should be OK not as much of a safety margin as I normally like but Im over cautious
if you have a good thermal solution it should be OK, if on the other hand the case gets a bit too hot, you could be in a grey area, its an "enhyanced" supply on the +12V rail exactly what you need for that config

looking out the window it seems its a newegg problem thats slowing me down, Ive resorted to spec searching elsewhere

sorry got confused when you posted the ATX ahanix :p

let me search a bit more not as familiar with microATXs
