Hi

I have been looking at the price of psp lcd panels on eBay and they are really cheap so i was wondering whether it would be possible to use it as a secondary display for my pc and have it mounted in the fornt of my case what hardware software etc would i need for this to work

I'm trying real hard to work in a Sony E3 conference joke here somewhere and its just not happening. My muse must be out taking a dump.

I must be a real noob, but are they (Sony) really offering psp screens in the aftermarket? Sounds fishy to me.

We're talking eBay here... chopshop parts are always available for people with the will and skill to repair their own toys. Someone else breaks their PSP and doesn't want to fix it? Sell the working parts on eBay.

As for the original question, I think it would be an incredible feat to rig a PSP screen up to a PC. There's no way it uses the same interface, and there is probably no documentation publically available on what the pins do. It may not even be possible if it doesn't support the same basic communication methods (the VGA "screen modes") that PC monitors do. In this case, you would need to program a firmware chip for it and stick it on an intermediary PCB between the screen and your graphics card.

If you could get them to talk to each other, you would still need a monitor device driver so that the PC could send data to it in the right resolution.

Unless you're skilled at circuitry and assembly language programming, I would recommend steering clear of this one. Hell even if you are skilled at those, it would be quite a bitch to achieve.
