PSP Go! confirmed, revealed!

Looks good to me, close it for videos and slide it up to play games. I can't tell since the video is so dark, but is that a d-pad or an analog stick? Oh please be an analog stick :)

edit: nevermind, half way through the video a light flashes and you can see the dpad. Shitty.

I'm not liking the design. Plus it looks like it doesn't have dual analog sticks. I didn't watch the video (just looked at the photos), and It seems like it might have two of those 'nubs,' like the single one on the current PSP, but I'm not a fan of those things. They just aren't the same.

EDIT: Joystiq has an article and based on the screenshot shown those aren't even dual analog nubs.

the PSP Go in the images features no UMD drive and a sliding screen. It also features a single (and poorly positioned) analog stick.

So it looks like we'll just have to wait for a true successor to the PSP, to hopefully get something like that.

Looks like a kid's toy. Sony really dropped the ball with the PSP and I think this further proves that they have no idea what direction they are going with PSP. This generation is a big cluster fuck for Sony.

Also...I can buy a new psp that plays none of my existing games? No drive = no using your old game library = fail. Who would replace their current psp with one of these?

Lame. Ugly, looks awkward to play games on, and still only one analog nub.

Yeah not feelin it. It could really use dual analogs and its still pretty big looking. Maybe they should have done the clam shell to protect the screen.

Wow, it reminds me of when gameboy did the gameboy micro. The same thing in a different package. Plus, dual analog is really needed. I just got a PSP 6 months ago anyways, not very excited. Others might be though, maybe it is going to be Sonys big Christmas release/

Yeah well I would consider one of these since I was interested in a psp 3000 but this means you can't buy used games or borrow games, so no thanks.

The Dpad is badly placed as well. Looks very uncomfortable to hold.

Glad they are trying to make the device smaller though.

Funny how they claim it is going to get Gran Turismo. The same thing was stated for the original PSP when that was released.

It looks good when its closed, but if you pull the thing down it looks somewhat terrible.
They should have made it touch screen instead.

wrong, they will have kiosks to load UMD games onto ur memory cards. coversion will be available. but yeah, this device is still fail.

Yeah, they should have kept the UMD drive and layout the way it currently is (possibly with some minor improvements), added a touchscreen and a slide-out keyboard instead.

With proper software, it would have been an excellent PDA and mobile internet device in addition to a gaming console. However, it is difficult to execute the creation of a good a do-all device.

Heck, if they added GSM support too, it would have been an awesome multimedia/internet phone (albeit on the big side).

That sounds absolutely terrible, and splitting your market by media type is going to work out really well for them

Omfg, my hands started to cramp by just looking at that picture........what were they thinking????

Who knows. I like the conclusions here though.. ITS CRAMPED EVEN BEFORE I HOLD IT. Man you guys blow your load all day. If its anything like the mylo, then it wont be that bad. But then again, i will judge when i get my hands on one.. rather than look at pictures and conclude that its uncomfortable.

If its comfortable count me in.

I dont get the idea of a 2nd nub. A lot of games that arent FPS dont really use a 2nd nub.

It actually looks pretty slick as a video player.

The slide-out controls make the entire unit look pretty ugly.

I'm at least glad that I no longer feel the need to hold out for fall to buy a PSP. I'll probably pickup a 3000 next week.

Yeah but that's the point... FPS games need two nubs. Socom is a noob game thanks to the PSP's limitation of only one nub and auto aim.

They want this thing to CO-EXSIT with the PSP?

Does this company listen to anyone, or is their heads THAT far up their asses?
Oh well, not like I was looking to replace my white PSP-1000, anyway.

Niche market device. And looks incredibly uncomfortable to use.
I dont see this going very far.

I imagine they will be uploading more legacy PSP titles for users that purchase the Go! I can also imagine them having a transfer kit (hardware or software) for those that decide to switch to it. I can also imagine that the PSP 3000 will slowly fade out as they start to introduce more and more download only titles. Those that have all the older models will not be locked out unless you just don't have the memory to support it.

Seems right to me. PSP hardware sells but software doesn't sell. As they introduce a DD only model, create more titles as download only they can help curb the piracy of the games. As far as everything else, there are no details, no specifics so I will just wait until E3 for them to give us the details on the product before having fits of RAGE!

Bluetooth, no umd drive, 16gb internal memory... that's all cool but I will not get it. The only thing I would want is the bluetooth so I can use my S9 headset with it. Damn that would be awesome. Oh and Sony...

WHY IS THERE NO SECOND ANALOG STICK!!!

well I fpr one don't really enjoy the games they are producing for the PSP at the moment I found it more gratifying to run homebrew and an emulator and play old console games on my PSP. I think the Downloadable content only approach is the way they have chosen to combat people like me who have not purchased games from them in a long while because of homebrew. Unfortunately they need to concentrate more on title that are fun to play in order to get me to get a new device. ( I would still keep my old PSP so I can play all my homebrew stuff )

why would they put a second analog stick on it? 90% of games still wouldn't use it as the original psp has to be able to play them

2nd analog stick would mean way better first person shooters. I couldn't get into Coded Arms one or two because of that and better future games because of it.

Agreed I can barely play my current PSP comfortably. I'm gonna pass on this one

looks a lot like that sony mylo that didn't sell very well... this probably will suffer the same demise.. I sure liked hacking the psp phat though.. still get a little use out of it every now and then

I will probably still get one, just to play around with and put in the drawer with my psp phat and psp 3000, I have a nice little collection of stuff in there I never use.. I think there is an ipod or two in there as well, next to the first nintendo DS and a nintendo DSi, extra ram sticks, lost puppy.. god knows what else

I need to quit buying stuff and putting it in there

Thanks, I missed that when I searched. Figured someone would have already posted it.

I agree. Since the PSP has come out people have been asking for a second analog and Sony still doesn't put one on it. They do not listen to their customers.

hang on a minute, everybody has been suggesting for years that sony ditch the umd, now they are on one of the models, you want it back!!!??

The new psp looks pretty dam good to me, the size is more pocketable, reminds me of the xperia size or touch pro 2 or like the mylo 2 which someone suggested earlier which are perfect phones for touch typing.
i am really looking forward to this, no umd drive (which everyone wants) = faster loading (pick up and play like the original ds fanboys moaned about, longer battery life, more portable.... i mean come this is all good!!
