PS4 - Helldivers

Looks similar to the little offroad shooter that was free on plus last year. It was fun, wonder the pricing on this though.

This was released this morning, it appears. 19.99/17.99. I have it downloading now.

So far, it seems fun. There's a little more complication to it than I first thought, but no biggie. I like how they've utilized the speaker on the PS4 controller.

Yea I picked it up but haven't had time to seriously dive into it. From what I played in Co-Op it's basically a top down twin stick shooter Destiny in a sense.

I can already tell for me it's a better game.

Beware of progress-loss bug if controller dies during play (=<1.02).

Also while the US is on 1.02, the EU 1.02 patch isn't up till the 10th at the earliest, so multiplayer is currently split in two incompatible versions.

Hopefully 1.03 won't be delayed the same way.

An awesome Co-op game. Its a bit rough concerning bugs but its like Contra on roids.

The hilarity of this game in Co Op is incredible. If you get that one game with a griefer just leave and go somewhere else.

Played the Vita version a bit and just can't do it. Waiting on 2.50 to stream from PS4.

Buddies told me about this, picked it up, ended up really liking it. I didn't want to go to sleep last night since the war progression was almost at the Bug homeworld.

Pretty fun, can't wait to get my hikes in and play more tonight.

Dlc with friendly fire off and some epic boss battles would be great.

They should let people setup games with friendly fire off. This game is frustrating as hell when your teammates shoot you on accident

I didn't get shot so much as trampled by dicks in mecha-suits.

I stay away from the mechs after getting stomped on about 25 times. Then I end up getting killed because the Mechs are pushing against one edge of the screen and I get killed on the other side of the screen by enemies I can't even see.

I don't even know why everyone has to be visible on the screen, makes no sense in an online multiplayer game :(

Waste of $18 for me.

The game would be pretty pointless without friendly-fire, it's core to the design.

People wouldn't play a top down action game with randomized levels and systems for getting more powerful characters so you can keep killing bigger baddies? See Diablo 3.

I'm not sure how to even respond to this, it's such a random statement. I didn't say anything about what people would or wouldn't play, I'm just pointing out that there's a pretty obvious design to Helldivers, built around the hilarity that is friendly fire. I think you're in a minority if you're saying that removing it would make the game better. There's very little to the game already, and importantly, just removing it doesn't turn the game into a Diablo 3.

Also don't play Magicka.

Get higher up and people use less mechs.

Had an awesome game yesterday with 3 others who might have been drunk. We were chased around in circles by a tank and assassination target for a good hour dying uncontrollably. Finally got him killed and ran for our lives, somehow got everyone evacuated.

The less serious you take this game, the more fun it suddenly becomes.
