Thinking about picking one up and cant seem to really decide. What is everyones opinion on good game titles? Thinking about picking up the 360 only because of the choice of good titles. Thanks.

PS3 has a lot of awesome titles. Really depends on what you like to play I guess. This discussion has been brought up several hundred times, and its really just your personal preference.

360, heres why

only get wii if you have a lot of friends that will want to come over and play it, or a big family that will play.. and a big TV to play it on

ps3 shares most of the titles with Xbox360

360 is cheaper controler is better

ps3 has blueray, thats good if you are going to use it

Im a fps pc gamer, and a console sports gamer and GTA gamer

I only got xbox360 for Madden, Nba2k, fifa, and mostly Gta4...oh ya, and guitar hero for the girlfriend

I dont know what your into, but if you only like fps's, then reconsider getting a console, because you will try it out and be like...ugh this is awful

Right now I'd actually say it's a toss up.
The Wii is finally getting Mario Kart and Smash Bros. in the next month. Add in Mario Galaxy and you've got 3 major A+ titles that will probably keep you busy for a long time. You'll also have the fun Wii sports for free, too. The system's also cheap and good for parties. With that said, 90% of the software for the Wii is trash and the odds of us seeing another Mario Kart, Mario (platformer), Smash Bros., etc. on this system are slim and none. We might see another Metroid or Zelda, though.

The PS3 actually has a lot of good games right now, with more on the way. You also have Blu-Ray and a controller that doesn't have a worthless d-pad, too. did I mention that the PS3's audio = easily better than the other systems? It's the only one that does lossless for both movies and games. The catch is, the online play isn't that robust (until Home hits), it's expensive to get the PS3 with backward compatibility. The controller is also so-so for shooter games.

The 360 has the biggest library, the best online system, and even the ability to download movies. The catch is, the controller sucks for anything that uses a d-pad. As a media center, it's only so-so. The possible Blu-Ray add-on is going to be bare bones. The system's shooter heavy. If FPS games aren't your thing, that actually kills off about 1/2 of the major 360 titles.

I think the 360's probably still the best, BUT that's starting to change day to day. Once Home finally hits, I think we might see the PS3 take that lead...but who knows when that'll be.
The Wii's cheap and fun, but I can't see any serious gamers being happy with it in another year.

wii's still to hard to find.

Microsoft will be giving up on the 360 in a few years for the new xbox vista.

you are left with a ps3. and when you have more cash and wii's are more available pick one of them up too.

Wii has all the great Nintendo titles where 360's got all the shooters and PS3 has Blueray. I would pick Wii being the Nintendo fan I am but my second choice is still undecided. Both PS3 and 360 are attractive for different reasons although I'm leaning torwards ps3 at the moment.

I've been the owner of both.

If I had to choose between the two... PS3 for the following reasons

1) BluRay, not having to attach a secondary drive to play Hi-Def movies is great, games will eventually use it(see MGS4).
2) I can upgrade the harddrive to whatever I want, without having to pay through the nose.
3) The games I want, I am burnt out on FPS games, but have been having a blast with R&C and I have already pre-ordered LittleBig Planet, MGS4 :D
4) The issues with online play can be fixed, whereas the closed console mentality of MS will not.
5) Atlest from my experience the PS3 is silent compared to the 360

6) can't forget F@H , shameless "Join the [H]orde" post

Remember the games will come to the PS3, MS has a year lead on developers' time, but there are certain things that wont change.

I currently have a 360 and a Wii. I haven't turned on my Wii in months but that will probably change on Sunday (Super Smash release). It seems to me that the Wii has a lot of games that are basically just mini game compilations with a few top notch titles sprinkled in every now and then.

My 360 is probably the best console I've ever owned. Very robust library and Live is pretty good. I will probably get a PS3 at some point but there's not much out there as far as games are concerned for me to pull the trigger just yet.

These are all really good points. To which I'll counterpoint that the online experience with the 360 is second-to-none. :p So... if you like playing a lot of multiplayer, consider the 360. If you like single-player games or watching blu-ray movies interests you, consider the PS3. They both do many things well, but the thing is that they don't do everything well. Decide what your preferences are and choose one (or both!)

I don't personally consider the Wii as part of this discussion since it's such a different animal. If you can only afford one of them, I would only look at the PS3 and 360 personally.

(Also, this subject has been done to death. :( )

The home update in a few months will change the online experience completely. It works now, just sort of bare bones on features. I never have problems with lag or connections.
PS3 has the best titles in the coming year. There are over 2000 developers employed directly by Sony working hard on creating all the upcoming PS3 exclusive titles.

Sony has the best 1st party/2nd party network around.
A lot of X360 "exclusive" titles are available on PC. I'd rather not play Alan Wake on console.

And I like Sony's relatively open system. i.e optional linux, use any usb peripheral, G25 support, free online, easily swappable hd, no RROD etc..It's nearly silent and well built.

I purchased an Xbox 360 recently, my first console (unless you count a PSP...). Even though a lot of the games wind up on the PC, everything just works on the 360. I don't have to worry about drivers, incompatibilities between programs, copy protections, finding the magic config that'll give me the best image quality and speed, or system requirements (Assasin's Creed, anyone?). I pop the disk in, play, and it runs smoothly and looks good (unless it RRoDs :p). So unless it's a FPS, I would rather buy a game for the 360 and avoid any potential headaches.

If I the money to drop on the PS3, I would, for the same reasons. I'm not going to buy a Wii anytime soon though, because there are few "hardcore" games for it (like GTA4). There are lots of party/mini-games and Nintendo's first party stuff, but none of that really appeals to me.

Buy a 360 if youre into, oh I dont know, playing videogames.

Buy a wii so your girl can rock out to some mario galaxy (seriously, who doesnt enjoy watching him butt stomp?)

Buy a PS3 to play blu ray movies on your HDTV.

Buy them all.

=]

360.

The Wii is a fun little console but it gets maybe a couple days of play a month, usually only for the first-party Nintendo titles like Mario Galaxy/Smash/Zelda. It's a shelf decoration otherwise, and it's doesn't feel like a 'next-gen' console with its low-res graphics.

The PS3 hasn't enough exclusives to make it a real winner. Makes a great video player though. Arguably it gets the most play of all at my place, if only because I play a lot of PS2 games on it still (20GB with the hardware emulation).

The 360 has scores of games though, and gets the most play time of all if you remove the PS2 library from the equation. I agree though, that if you have a decent gaming PC, you can probably live without a 360, in which case you have to ask yourself if you are such a rabid Nintendo game fan (who isn't) that you can live without some of the Sony staples.

I also have a thing about paying $60 for a freaking game, so the Wii wins in that respect too with average of $50 titles. But seriously, why buy when you can rent.

Pick one at random. Rent or borrow a few games. Return console back within the return policy if you don't like and try another.

Thinking about picking one up and cant seem to really decide. What is everyones opinion on good game titles? Thinking about picking up the 360 only because of the choice of good titles. Thanks.

1. Research exclusive titles available for each
2. Determine which has more of #1 that you would play or buy
3. Buy the answer to number 2

Look at the titles and options and make a choice based on what you think will be the most fun for you. Also go to places and play on their demo units.

If you go with the 360, just watch out for the Red Ring of Death. My brother-in-law is on his 3rd 360, and a friend of mine is on his 4th.

I would say PS3 or Wii. They they only consoles where the exclusives will never show up on PC.

PC + Wii + PS3 = best combo you can get.

I'll be picking up Mass Effect soon for my PC (can't wait for M&KB support!!!)

X360 or a PS3 .. both have their strengths over the other ..I currently own a 360 and plan on getting a PS3 sometime in the near future..

[F]old|[H]ard!!

Pick the console with a library of games that appeals to YOU.

I went with the 360 for this very reason (honestly, my fav console since the dreamcast)

Thanks for all the replies and sorry if I started an already over discussed topic. I have been looking at a PS3 now but do they no longer sell new units for the 80gb model that also plays ps2 games? All I see new anywhere is the 40gb model.

Coming in June: 80gb PS3 w/ BC, dual shock 3 controller w/ rumble, and bundled MGS4.

You can still find old stock 80gb new in box on ebay, but I think retail stores are mostly cleaned out.

the only things that made me keep my Wii is SSBB and Mario Kart when it hits.
my fiance actually bought me a PS3 a couple of weeks ago but I figured I wouldn't actually use it enough to warrant keeping it around so we returned it (she wanted to kill me :D).

I own all three and my faveorite is definitely the PS3. Asides from not having a %33 failure rate I prefer it due to the bluray player, built in wi-fi (M$ charges over $100 for the 360 wifi adapter), most of the same games as the 360 plus some excellent exclusives (uncharted, ratchet and clank, heavenly sword etc). I also prefer the PS3 controller and like the fact that I don't have to pay a monthly fee to play online.

I used to play the Wii often enough when the girlfriend and I had some friends over, but it has since been replaced by rockband. I just can't get over the absolutely terrible graphics of the Wii games. It can be fun but I definitely wouldn't recommend one for a "main" gaming console.

Aside from exclusives I wanted (FF13, MGS4) these were my reasons. I really can't stand lots of external devices, and the cost of the 360 Pro is only $50 shy of the 80GB PS3 once you add the wireless adapter. If an external Blu-Ray drive comes out for $150, now you're $100 over the 80GB PS3. 360 exclusives all come out for the PC eventually. Paying for online play. What's the point? To me, the 360 puts the $ in M$.

You can get an 80GB PS3 at Walmart if you don't want to wait for the MGS4 bundle.

I already have the Wii, and am looking to get my next system.
I want online play, HDMI and high def video.
I know high def video isnt for everyone, but for me, its a big deal.

360 elite $499 [for the HDMI]
HDDVD $299
Xbox Live $59.99 (1 year)
total = $857.99 + tax = $978.11

PS3 40GB = $399
PS3 80GB = $499

Save for a $20 HDMI cord, both versions of the PS3 do what I need for much less the the 360.
PS3 gets free online play, it may not be that good, but overtime, its money saved.
PS3 is much quieter, and reliable.

And I think the PS3 titles will be great. Gran Turismo is a sure seller for me. Same with the Final Fantasy games, MGS and the countless others.

For what I need, the PS3 simply does more for less.
It used to be the selling point for the 360 was the games, but honestly, RROD vs just waiting for the PC version to be released...
And the PS3 is an amazing blueray player....and now that blueray has won, its an easy choice.

[my prices are canadian]

360 has better and more games. Wii is only good for first party titles. PS3 is my main DVD/Blu ray player and I love the dashboard and capabilities of the console overall. There are only a few current PS3 exclusive games worth getting such as Uncharted.

If your only interest is straight up gaming, then go for the Xbox360. Also, don't just pick PS3 because it has a blu ray drive. Microsoft plans to released an addon blu ray drive soon.

Xbox Live $59.99 (1 year)

with hddvd losing to blu-ray, the player is now only 50 USD, so you can knock off however much that is canadian. as for live, i play on live in spurts, but for 50 bucks for a year its a good deal.

And if you don't mind applying for a sony CC then canceling it after you buy the PS3 you can get $100 off :D

Wii was my choice with all its exclusive AAA content. Only thing that would tempt me to buy a ps3 would be gt5. Blu-Ray is a very nice bonus if you have a good hdtv. 360 really doesn't have any exclusives that get me hot and bothered.

Blu Ray is not a selling point, since we are debating games.
If you want to watch movies, then you should have your answer and shouldnt even be asking this question. (PS3)

Heres the way I see it, if you game ALOT (more than 2-3 hours per SESSION) get a PS3/360.
Wii is a different beast, you wont be able to hang for that long. Playing Wii is much more physical than any other console Ive ever had. Sometimes, I'll want to play, but I dont cause I just dont have the energy at the time. (Depending on the game of course. Mario isnt tiring, but No More Heroes is VERY physical.)

In the end, everyone should have a Wii, then one of the other 2. They are not comparable at all. I wouldnt even call Wii a traditional console. Its a very different machine, and you really cant explain the difference until you actually play with one.

I bought a PS3 mostly because it has the free (cost included rather) blu-ray drive, and still had Rock Band available for it. Once the individual guitar controller that actually works for PS3 comes out on August 1st it will be pretty good, but is behind right now since other guitar controllers (re: GH3) don't. It doesn't have the death factor of the 360s, and has lots of options like media streaming just like the 360. I also like not having to pay for Xbox-live to get internet play.

I like playing video games on my console so I got the 360. Easy choice really.

I own all three (look at my sig!). And I would _definitely_ go with the 360 first. The others have some good games, but the 360 dominates by fair.

And whomever said the 360 isn't a good media center is full of it. WIndows Media Center Extender support is phenomenal, and it has very nice dashboard playback abilities, too.
