PS3 Startup Vid

I was like "Hey, that startup animation actually looks pretty good....oh wait, that's the PSM logo... nevermind"

I really like the Xbox 360's little spinny X ball logo with the audio whirr at the end of it... then it fades nicely into the dashboard. PS3's GUI is kinda blah :p

lmfao same here.

I like the actual intro though... simple yet sexy. :p

I watched a video (I believe it's the PSM video, supposedly a "real" production PS3) of folks dealing with the GUI and it looked pretty awful. Hopefully, a) it was the quality of the video (there's probably better contrast live) and/or b) the GUI is skinnable I'm pretty new to the X360 but its GUI is fantastic (and vastly better than the original Xbox Dashboard) - the default skin is perfectly clear in all resolutions (and screen sizes) with good color choices, and there are a variety of themes to change things up if desired.

Yea the PSM intro was better then the one on the PS3.

I was not a huge fan of the psp's interface. The screen just seems to have so much wasted space on it. So far I think the 360 has a better dash but hell it will all depend on how well sony can pull off the online side.

...zing!

K600, why do you even bother posting in Sony threads? Seems all you want to do is start a flamewar.

Why not? I can't help it if Sony has been wholly unoriginal this time around; if statements of truth offend you, that isn't my problem.

Your opinions are now truth, huh? Amd when did I say it offended me? All I'm saying is you're going to start a flamewar up once again. Anyways that'll be my last comment about this as I don't wish that to happen here.

of course that is true, but if we had the games now, nobody would care about the startup movie. this is all we have, which is why we have a thread about it. i'm sure we all realize this, even the people who post negatively about whatever information we can get our hands on.

cool, so you've played some? tell us all about them.

Yes, my statements in this thread are truth. The PS3 GUI is a carbon-copy of the PSP GUI. That is a completely unoriginal move and the PSP GUI isn't very interesting to begin with.

There are these new things called "gaming conferences" and "screenshots". Maybe you've heard of them. If you've seen anything from the PS3 that couldn't be done by the 360, please show us.

I like it. It looks clean. Love the blues.

360 GUI is an ugly clash of colors and textures.

That said .05% of my decision on what console I get is based on the GUI. The web browser part of the GUI is certainly worth mentioning but the "look" of the GUI just isn't that important.

Looks like K600 is up to his usual crap.

Sorry, but no; nothing I've done is against the rules. You, however, are breaking the rules by going completely off topic to troll me.

There is nothing in the rules that says I can't state my opinion and make factual observations; sorry.
(4) No THREAD Crapping
As dj_2004 pointed out, you thread crap and start a flamewar in every ps3/sony thread you get in. Why not stay out of them or actually try being civil about it.

(1) Absolutely NO FLAMING, NAME CALLING OR PERSONAL ATTACKS. Mutual respect and civilized conversation is the required norm.
You call people sony loyalist and fools if they don't agree with your opinion every other day.

If going OT is what it takes to point you out (which everyone notices), then so be it.

Making an observation on this uninspired GUI isn't thread crapping; it's completely related to the topic. You going out of your way to list the rules is breaking them, however (Impersonating a mod, derailing a thread, etc. etc).

If the shoe fits, wear it. You and VC have basically defended every ridiculous move and statement that Sony has made since announcing the PS3.

I'm not saying you are not subject to your own opinion, but you never do it in a civil way, and you try to pass your opinions along as facts, which is highly subjective in every way possible. If the GUI is uninspired to you, thats fine, but calling it fact when someone else may have another opinion is hardly a fact. Then calling people fools and loyalist is anything but going by the rules.

Impersonating a mod? Try again. I'm not the only one to notice this K600, its becoming daily routine for you.

Hardly, I've pointed sony out on many issues I don't agree with, and with other times just because I dont post about it doesnt mean I agree with it. But you see pass that and call me a loyalist.

Anyways, I'm done with this thread.

Less flames more gui talk.
Personally I don't see why it matters to much. How much time do you really spend in the system menu? So long as it is clean and functions it does its job well.

Fuck the GUI, I'm just glad this Playstation can't launch missles. For a while there, I was afraid the PS2's "emotion engine" was gonna turn my toaster oven into a Terminator. I got a little nervous when my friend's PS2 wouldn't read discs until he addressed it as "Skynet."

and then your cell phones worked again? :D

honestly i don't like it, i do spend a good deal of time on the 360's UI, theres alot you can do there and i like having the extra functionality

Here goes Mr K600 downhill again ... sweet jesus man!

Anyway,
though the GUI is kind of boring it's still clean and easy to use (seems to be).
If that happens to be the case I couldn't care less about it.

While admittedly I've only had my 360 for about a week, I've spent quite a bit of time on the Dashboard, doing Xbox Live Marketplace downloads, going from XBLA game to XBLA game to big-box game and back, playing music, etc. Add in the fact that things like text input, gamesaves and [of course] console shutdown can invoke the 360 UI (love having a unified interface) and you've got a lot more Dashboard time. Before non-360 users ask, no, you don't have to spend a lot of time in the Dashboard after system setup (especially if you only buy big-box games, as opposed to playing on XBLA), but it's not a one-time situation as with the PS2 and Gamecube.

Darakian said:
Wait... you need to use the console UI to shutdown?
No, you can also hit the power button on the console. However, the Xbox 360 adds the ability to start up and shut down from the controller. It's quite nice, though I'm sure some would gripe about the power costs of "standby" modes versus full shutdown - since we're hydroelectric around here I don't feel too bad blowing some watts for convenience. :)

looks fine to me, they had there reason, and my OPINION is i like it more so than the 360 dash, anyways always glad to hear some new stuff etc...

really the threadcrappers have got to GO!(that means u k600,and ur little doggie too)

The Sega Saturn and the XBOX360 had the best startup screens.

I'm not all that impressed still with the PS3.
Still looks like a george forman grill. Plus that one brit's laugh was haunting like he was all snotty and shit. WTF.

I agree it looks very boring, but then theres no way in hell im getting a ps3 so I don't care too much :p

The threadcrapping needs to stop, period.

Also, if you have a problem with a users posting, please Report it, and we'll take care of it.

If you can't post like an adult, then don't, simple as that.

I thought it looked pretty decent, but that was just the PSM intro...

Looks kind of bland, but not bad. I'm guessing you'll be able to skin it.

Well if it's anything like the PSP, then you should be able to change the font/background and hopefully the icons.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. :)
