Anyone know? Was hoping to play MGS4 this year but no, GTA? nope!

note: this is not a flame.

People said X360 had a dismall launch line up (I thought it was good as far as launchs go) but I can't tell (from E3 info off websites) that ps3 will have a good one either...

I got an X360 at launch.

The games I purchased were:
Criminal Origins - favorite
Kameo
PDZ
PGR3

All were good games. The sports games were good from what I hear, just not my cup of tea.

The X360 launch was not as bad as the PS2.

well, i thought the 360 one was freakin awsome, i had 3 games off the bat i could play that interested me (and did keep my interest for a while), i'm sure those more interested in sports got a bit different feeling since it had just about every 2006 title available for it :rolleyes:

is there a link stating what we should expect for the PS3 launch?

didnt SONY say at last years E3 that there would be something like 100 or so games at launch.. lol

Doubtful but I wouldn't be surprised. We all know how honest they've been up until now.

Everyone we must also remember that the PS3 won't have Oblivion :D
I would buy a PS3 if I had a kickass big 1080p screen and an extra 600 dollars, but I don't so that's why I don't have a 360 either. Mother is probably helping me out with a 30-37" HD (probably dlp) for college so I could potentially get a next-gen soon enough. All I know is that I'm 100% positive I'm getting a Wii.

The Wii will have one of the strongest launches. ALL of their old games on the virtual console, and over 30 new Wii games at launch. Then in 2007 Super Smash Bros. Brawl which will sell sooooo many more units.

Ps3 seems like it will have a poor launch, and Xbox 360 did. The new Perfect dark didn't live up to the old one, and Kameo is a horrible game. Oblivion and GR:AW are probably the only reasons to own a 360 at the moment. Seeing as you can get those both on PC and they're better on PC, the 360 doesn't really have much out there.

Resistance : Fall of Man is a launch title i believe.

That does not look like a very good game. I just watched the sony booth tour on gametrailers. This was one of the featured games. The graphics looked blah for how powerful they tout the system to be and the game doesn't look like it has any rhyme or reason, just shoot lame looking aliens with future guns (The guy in the booth said the game would revolutionize the way FPS games are played because there is a gun that can shoot through walls!!! OMG how revolutionary...!!!). Just looks pretty generic to me.

In my opinion, the X360 had one of the best launch lineups, with the exception of the Sega Dreamcast that I never got around to owning(rented it several times though). Seriously, 18 games all running in high definition at launch is amazing. I liked the launch lineup that I ended up buying 13 of those launch titles, with the 14th being DOA4 when it finally launched after a couple delays. Kameo was especially a huge surprise, although PD0 was a big disappointment for me. Amped 3 was also another huge surprise as well as Condemned, PGR3, and the entire lineup. My favorite was probably COD2 and RR6. I will be pissed if we don't see RR7 coming to the X360.

Railgun, anyone? :rolleyes:

A little googling and this is a partial list I was able to find, supposedly confirmed from Sony, though there will probably be many more, after all, still six months before launch:

* John Woo’s Strangehold (Third Person Shooter)
* Tekken (Fighting)
* Sonic the Hedgehog (3D Platformer)
* Resistance: Fall of Man (First Person Shooter)
* Rainbow Six: Vegas (First Person Shooter)
* Lair (Action)
* Motorstorm (Racing)
* Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom (Action RPG)

The new Tekken should be pretty nice if you are into that series, personally I'm not, I prefer DOA, but from previews I've read it looks very promising.

The new Sonic is a no-brainer, that should be a huge hit, and John Woo's Stranglehold looks like it's going to be a pretty unique shooter.

As for 360 launch titles -

I can't speak for all the sports games, but Madden 2006 on the 360 is a joke. It looks a lot better sure, but they took out some major features and play modes from the regular PS2 release (not sure if the Xbox version had the same modes, I never played it on that system, I would imagine it did...)

Kameo was definately a good game, though I never got back into it after I got pretty far in and my 360s hard drive crashed and I lost all my progress, platformers just have very limited replayability for me, maybe I will give it another shot in a year or two.

A Tekken game at launch? That'd be pretty impressive if they could pull it off. I realize they had Tekken Tag for the PS2 when it came out, but that game was finished years ago and was just ported over.

They're not releasing all of their back catalogue. I guess because of liscencing and intellectual property, it's been a nightmare to get the rights for everything they want. They're not going to have Goldeneye. When they do lauch the Wii, they're not going to have the full back catalogue avaliable. They plan on having different release dates for the older games... like once a quarter, 50 more games are avaliable or something like that.

If the graphics stay the same as they are right now on that game, people won't be very impressed with the graphical capabilities of the PS3 when DOA4 already looks better.

That's why I'm doubting it'll make launch. There's no playable version at E3 if I'm not mistaken.

Just to let you know, you probably wont find a DLP TV that's smaller than 42"...in case space is of importance to you.

I'm pretty sure they said over 100 titles were in development.

DOA looks great, but it does have its glitches. The biggest one is hair, the hair in that game looks like a bad PS2 or original Xbox release.
