PS3 Headset Recommendation

Well, one of the things that I haven't liked about my PS3 is that it didn't come with a headset. However, I was fortunate enough to find a deal online where I was able to obtain a free Bluetooth headset through Buy.com. It was this one:

And It is very uncomfortable. In fact, it actually hurts when it's on. My question is, is there an affordable headset out there that is comparable to the overpriced (yet comfortable) Xbox 360 wireless headset? Or, how about a headset that is similar to the Xbox 360 wired headset that comes with the console? Is there one that you plug into the PS3 controller that is like the 360 one, and is cheap like the 360 one?

I know it's my fault for relying on a free piece of crap I ordered off the internet, but I would play my PS3 more if I found a more comfortable yet affordable headset.

Any opinions?
 
It may not be classified as affordible to all but i really like the bluetooth headset from sony, there are cheap wired headsets out there but the they typically are plugged into the PS3 itself. As far as i know there is no headset that will plug into the controller like the 360. I'm not sure if you have a bluetooth headset for your cell phone you like becouse it should work with your PS3 just fine.
 
The Sony one is the most comfortable I've seen, but there's also a Logitech one that looks pretty nice. If you're into Socom at all, the newest one comes with the Sony headset and dock.
 
I got the blue tooth official Sony one that came with End War and have enjoyed it for both the PS3 and my cell phone so I would suggest that. I don't know of any that plug into the controller.

I just use a logitech headset,

When I want play my ps3, I just unplug me usb headset, usb mouse, and usb g15 keyboard and plug them up to my ps3.

They all work fine.
 
i use the logitech digital precision usb headset i use with my pc as well. sounds great.
 
Thanks Snaggle. So does that mean it's connected via USB to your PS3 the entire time?

I see that the Socom bundle is $59.99, and the headset is $49.99. Is SOCOM worth $10? I see metacritic shows it at 63 out of 100 for an average rating.
 
Make sure you get the right headset.. Looks like you figured it out but the one with warhawk is apparently not as good as this new one.

SOCOM has to be worth $10. I'd do it
 
The official Sony one has that "HQ mode" that no other bluetooth one has. The jury is still out on that one. Socom makes REALLY good use of the headset though. If a friendly or enemy is right by you, he can hear you through his TV speakers even if you aren't hitting the voice button, so playing in a loud environment (like another person in the room talking) will give away your position.
