try a dvi to HDMI cable, my friend has that same monitor and it works perfect for him. He then invested in an HDMI switch so he could use his ps3 and pc on it.

thanks ...and which cable did he get..like which brand or exact one so i can have mine work to...lol

I have this monitor and a PS3 connected to it. It works fine for me.

Make sure you have actually selected HDMI as the output. Hold the power "button" down for about 5 seconds, and it will reset the video and detect that HDMI is being used. I am guessing that you might have had component or composite video selected, and you can't see a picture because the PS3 will only output one kind of video or sound at a time.

Edit: never mind, I looked again and saw you already reset it. Or did you just mean you rebooted the system?

yes i did reset the system already and nothing...im thinking its the adapter i got...which i have the link for...i was thinking of buying the hdmi to dvi cable itself...which cable or device you using to connect ur PS3 to the monitor (same one i have right)?

I use an HDMI to DVI cable from Monoprice. I actually use an HDMI switch for PS3 and computer, but I used to swap cables, so I know the PS3 directly to the monitor worked.

The only thing I can think of is maybe to check to be sure that the monitor actually has the DVI input selected. Maybe try going into its menu and changing the "Auto Source" setting to manual. (You'd have to do this with a computer connected, because the menu won't come up if I switch away from the computer output when the PS3 is turned off.) If that doesn't work, I guess it could be the adapter.

Do you have any other HDMI displays to test the PS3 with? That would rule out the PS3's HDMI output being bad.

A really odd thing I've noticed about some monitors like mine (NEC 2690) is that they can't display 480i coming out of the PS3 when you reset it by holding down the power button for 5 seconds. You'll have to hook it up to a TV, change it to whatever resolution there, then hook it back up to your monitor.

I had the same issue with my PS3. It's because the PS3 uses HDCP over HDMI - you'll need a monitor that can provide an hdcp handshake, use an adapter that can provide an hdcp handskake, or use component output.

I bought an HDFury, works like a charm. I have HDMI -> DVI cable from the PS3 to HDFury, then a short VGA out to my Sony 23" WUXGA. 1080p, no problems.
