well im on the 4th unit now and saw that it only uses 1core out of 8that the cell cpu has. Is there any way to get F@H to use the full 8cores?

Also what do you have to do to make2 ps3's to run in clusters for F@H :p
Thinking to get another ps3 :) but that wont be till next year or so.

I have my PS3 folding as well, but I just set it up and left it. Work and school beckon to me :(

F@H doesn't really cluster well due to the amount of data that would have to be shared between the concurrent threads. That's what I remember anyways from the explanation. Just get another PS3 and set it up as normal.

Eh sorry my bad, it was just for the active cpus, I thought it said active cpu cores :/ sorry.
Anyways, so If I get another ps3 I just fold that under my name too and will work together with the other ps3 that im folding under my username?
 
It won't work together in the sense that they will share data, but it will add to your total username stats.

That's what I do, I have about 10 computers and a PS3 under vraa for my team and I do about 5000 points a day.

It's spread around. A few computers at this location, a few there, it adds up :)

Electricity isn't that big of a deal for me -- what would I be spending the money on anyways.

I like to think that the money is being spent on a good cause :)

I don't have any super computers of the sort, they are all ranging from 950mhz AMD's to dual Opterons, to Macbooks and iMacs.

The MacbookPro I'm typing on might be the most powerful computer I have with 2gb ram and the dual 2.16ghz Core Duo.

In a year I'll give it to my sister and pray that the quad-core MBP comes out -- I wouldn't mind one of those.

The folding on Macs is INCREDIBLE. We're talking about doing a thousand points a day.

That is a direct link to my brothers F@H stats for his Macbook Pro 2.16ghz with 1gb ram.
He has been doing 922 points a day consistently.

I can get the 1.66ghz Mac Mini for 579$. I might as well get a few of them and setup a X-Grid cluster for video encoding and run F@H on them. Although they wouldn't be doing a thousand points a day, they sure would be doing very close... not to mention I'd get 60gb harddrives with them so I could use it as a storage cluster.
But I'm not sure how efficient that'd be compared to getting another PS3. The PS3 is a few bucks more expensive -- but does a smaller subsect of workunits in the grand scheme of things -- but I think it'd be more useful as I can use it as another Bluray player and game on it.

Best I can do is $605 after taxes. I don't know how useful that X-Grid thing would be. Is it possible to sell that computer time? Maybe even get a couple Octal-core systems that will do that type of work?

i have folded 9 wu after installing F@H on my ps3 but only 2500points isn't that low? Also how do i insert my H folding tag?

 
Ice - I have a student discount, being in college rocks. :)
X-Grid wouldn't help with folding, but it'd be nice for video encoding, I do a ton of it -- vacation movies and what not.
I have no idea if it'd be possible to sell the computer time, it'd be nice if I could, but I don't believe my bandwidth would allow it (cable connection 6mbps/384kbps).

shadowx - You should be doing about 900 points a day (3 workunits a day) so 9 WU = 900 * 3 = 2700 which sounds just about right for your PS3.
