PS3 borked?

I hastily fired up the PS3 this morning for folding and it reported 32 hours to complete the just d/l'd project. Don't recall seeing 1000000 steps in the WU before. I think it was the 2xxx series of projects it was workign on (I forget the specifics, will look agian when I get home from work). It was auto-shut down upon completion fo a WU the other day, so I don't think this is a leftover WU.

Did somthing change recently for PS3 WU's? Is this a bad WU or did Standford change the WU's to crunch longer since that melt down the other week?

There is indeed some new WU which take about 1 day to complete. However, there is also a issue with a certain serie of WU which stall at beginning and sit forever. The only way to kick it out is to close then restart the PS3 but hopefully, these problematic WU should be out of the system for now.

A quick glance of the psummary doesn't turn up any 2xxx series units for the PS3 that should take that long, but if its actually a 4044 or 4045 (1250 pointers) then thats right on target.

That's how you passed me you little devil. I was wondering how all of a sudden your output went higher than mine. You borged the kids' PS3. That's ok, I'm getting my second 88000 GTS card, and as soon as I can afford it, I'm getting 2 8800GS cards for my friends' PCs and then I will own you like a fat man on a twinkie!

Actually, what you have is most likely one of the mislabeled 4044's. The 4043's have long since dried up and they were only worth 125 points, took about 3 hours. They had these fixed for a while, but I started seeing them again here and there.

They don't forget, their attention span just doesn't allow for them to keep looking for it for long. If they can't find it, they can't shut it off.

All seems back to normal now. 4016 project showing about 6 hours to complete.
