PS/2 vs USB mouse?

I have 3 computers hooked up to a 4-port PS/2 KVM switch, including my "gaming" PC. I currently have a low-end M$ optical mouse, and I am looking to upgrade to a better mouse probably from Logitech (maybe MX510, I'm not sure.) Does using PS/2 instead of USB reduce the mouse's abilities and performance, or does it work pretty much the same on either?

Get the Logitech MX518.. Instead. And also I remember when I switched from PS2 to a USB I remember the mouse being smoother.. :D
