What is a good way of creating a proxy server? As in being able to connect from another location, not on a network. I have been reading a lot about this and can't seem to find what i'm looking for.

Ive looked at Squid, and it is what I want, except for it runs on Linux. I love Linux don't get me wrong. But I need it to run on windows. :\

I'm not sure... but check out Microsoft's ISA Server . I know it can do proxy stuff... just not sure if it can for what you want to do or LAN only. I've never used it.

Stumbled on this as well. Hope it helps.

I've never heard of a proxy that runs on XP, and I've used a lot of them. I would suggest getting another box for your proxy. Squid/Linux will run fine on a 300-400mhz machine. You don't need much resources to run it.
