So apparently the new Prototype comes out today. Anyone getting it? I thought the first one was great.

I'm afraid to say you missed it -- the game has been on sale for around $7.50 at least a couple of times.I wanted to buy the 1st one as it looked pretty cool but the damn thing was ALWAYS $30 on Steam, at least every time I looked and I either missed it when it was on fire sale or it never was. Never could make myself pull the trigger on it and eventually forgot about it. Might have to check it out again.

why is this game released 1+ month later on PCs?
Dare I pray for a little spit and polish?
I liked the first game. It got repetitive after a point and the novelty wore off but before that happened I had a whale of a fun time with it. If 2 adds some depth and a little variety I'd probably consider a bite.

Reviews thus far stack up fairly well for the console versions. Not absymal by any means.
I'm interested. Is there a demo for the console versions out?
No demo, but I've been watching a pretty good LP on Youtube and Giant Bomb's quick look covers the game pretty well.
Unfortunately what I'm gathering is: This game really is more of the same. For all intents and purposes it's almost like they're re-releasing the first Prototype all over again with a handful of minor differences and a different main character.
Everything that was wrong with the previous game is still here: Namely that there's WAY too much sameness and repetitive-ness. Once you've blown up the 40th base full of the same drone solidiers and it's been the exact same thing as the previous 39 incarnations, you get the idea.
For me it took a lot less than that amount of repetition in the first game for the novelty to wear off and for me to lose interest. It's too bad because it's fun but it just doesn't have a lot of mileage to it IMO.

I never blew up any bases I stealth killed every guy in every base because I'm weird.
It's better than the first game, which was pretty good in itself. Just don't buy this for the story or characters; Keller is one-dimensional, is voiced terribly and is given fucking awful lines.
I think I wrote earlier:
My only problem with the first game was how painfully repetitive it became. I was having a blast at first and the novely just wore off in a flash and I stopped playing it.
The idea I get from the reviews is this really is more of the game almost to a laughable degree. One review basically said the game was the first Prototype all over again with a new central character and that's about it.
What say you and others here?
It's basically the same game with a few new powers and features, and the game looks a fair bit better this time around. There is more stuff to do but the repetition is still there.
It's probably a $10-$20 purchase.
