I seem to be wiping my computer every 3-4 months as it keeps picking up viruses and loads of spyware i have AVG virus protection and adaware spyware checker. out of your personal opinions which is the best antivirus program and which is your best spyware remove tool ?

I agree with digital_exhaust. A combination of those two programs and staying clear of questionable sites should help you tremendously.
 
NOD 32, Spywareblaster, Spybot, AdAware and Windows Defender makes you pretty much totally protected.
 
The best option is getting a hardware firewall IMO and blocking unused ports. After doing that many of my problems regarding spyware and whatnot went away.
