So I just now got my GTX 770 to replace my Radeon 7850. Do I simply go to uninstall AMD drivers in programs, shut off, replace GPU, boot up and install GTX 770 drivers or is there more?

Yup, that's it. Some old skool nerds like to uninstall the drivers, reboot into safe mode and run driver sweeper, then install the new card.So I just now got my GTX 770 to replace my Radeon 7850. I think you should since you changed from AMD to NVIDIA. To ensure no problems I would use AMD's uninstaller and use driver cleaner to remove all remnant of the Catalyst drivers from your system. If you were upgrading from say, a 7850 to a 280X, then it wouldn't be necessary to go that far.Yup, that's it. It's not really necessary though, imo.

I simply uninstall and run something like CCleaner. I don't reboot into safe mode or anything like that. I do not like driversweeper because I've had some catastrophic registry programs occur from it. Try it the simple way first, try out some games and benchmarks to verify everything is working as it should. If not, then consider getting more in depth or starting clean.
You don't really even need to uninstall the old drivers. It's still a good idea to uninstall them, but most things will not use the amd driver if there's no card. Computers have gotten easy![]()
You always uninstall the driver if you are putting in a different brand card. Having 2 different drivers installed can blue screen the machine
I sorta agree...its actually more important to clean drivers when updating the the same driver family....to me its 5 min well spent for piece of mind alone...but i rarely if ever see driver problems as well..probably because of that..so there ya goI beg to differ, since you can run an AMD and Nvidia card simultaneously in the same machine.
