proper cooling?

My box is hot! :)

Ok, seriously... I am trying to lower the temp in my system all around. Currently, I *think* things are a bit too hot. My CPU is ~50C idle, and my system temp is ~45C.

Specs,
Intel 2.4c
Abit IS7-E
2x 256mb sticks of Samsung PC3200
Abit GeForce 4 Ti4200
WD 7200 8MB Cache 40gb HD
Lite-on 52x cd-rom
some floppy (the most important part, obviously)

Antec 430w True Power
TOTALLY CRAP atx mini-mid tower case

I just picked up 2 80mm speeze. My case has two fan spots, both on the back. I set the top (closest to the cpu) to push out, and the one on the bottom (right on top of the gfx card) to pull in. Is this the best set up? What things should I be looking at doing to drop the temps a bit and free up some room to start overclocking.
 
Dont do that, you should have one intake on the lower front use one there to suck in and one at the back to exhaust it out. If there for some ungodly reason isnt a lower front intake fan mount its better to make the two at the back go in the same direction.
 
Yeah, my case is _that_ crappy, it has no front fan mount so i am stuck with 2 on the back... that's it. So, should I have them both going out or in? I Ithink I read negative pressure is going to provide better temps, so probably both out?
 
do u have any modding skills? or any time with a drill? im asking cuz u could just drill some holes on the front of the case (behind the front face) to let more air in.
you could also cut some holes on the bottom of ur case (if u dont have carpet) that would also be a big help

i would set up both fans blowing out and make some holes in the front of ur case. or even on the bottom. that would help a great deal.

i would also try a better heatsink.

oh, and im guessing the power supply is really quiet? make it louder ;) change the fans in it to some higher powered ones.

thats all what i would do. if i wasnt going to water cool it :p

Hot air rises, get a 3 inch holesaw and cut a hole in the top of the case a mount one there.
 
Well, both sucking in would give you the "good" pressure (positive pressure, ie so air is being blow out of all the cracks in your case not sucked in) But im not sure if that will yield better temps in the fashion your case is set up. Just try both and see what gives you better temps.
