Promise RAID5 migration to a RAIDCORE

I have a Promise SX150 RAID5 card running 4 WD2000JD drives in a RAID5.

I just recently built my new workstation with PCI-X slots and want to move to a killer new RAIDCORE card with 8-channels.

Since RAID5 info is written to the drive, can I keep my exsisting array and just change the cards out? I ask cause I have over 450Gb of data and its nearly impossible to backup.

Also, with this card I can add 2 more WD drives and bring my raid to 1TB!

Probably not.
Between different cards from the same manufacturer, yes. It can be done w/o any problems.
I'd like to know if anyone has actually moved R5 arrays between different company's controllers.

But Im planning on making sure all my data is backed up when I move from R1 to R5...
with bigger array its an even bigger PITA then Im facing...
