hey guys i'm looking for a projector for home. was wondering what would you guys suggest. mostly just looking for 1080p Budget is at least $500-$700

First, I highly recommend Projector People I have done several orders with them and everything has been great. They spent a long time with me with my first purchase helping me pick the right projector and that purchase was only $1200 all together (Projector + Screen). I do highly recommend getting a screen if you are going to create a home theater. Also there is a great review site that I have gone to many times Projector Central and of course the obligatory AVS forums. I would suggest using the finder on projector people, that will help you narrow your field down and then you can go price shopping.

Now on to your main question, a lot of it is going to depend on your room conditions. Is the room dark or does it have windows? Is it a large room or a small room? How much distance will there be between where you mount the projector and the wall you are projecting onto? Are you going to hook console or computer systems up to the projector? Do you watch a lot of fast moving sports? etc.

$500-$700 might be a little limiting in options. I generally prefer Panasonic, Optoma, and Epson.

Yes its the living room. we have a screen already but not sure how big it is but it should be enough for at least 1280x960

the room does have windows and mounting the projector wont more more than 3 feet away. I will be hooking up my computer and we have an HDMI cord that is long enough. now for audio we have a sound bar and can hook it up via Optical cable or RCA (prefer optical). my friends aren't a sports fanatic mostly entertainment.

When you are looking at the projector you want, you can find the throw adjustment to see what size picture you can get at 3 feet away and at what angle. Projector people also has the throw adjuster on it in their Projector Calculator. It is on the right side of the screen when you look at a specific projector.

your going to need more then 3 feet away to make any kind of large picture.. If your looking for a good 1080p projector for 700 bucks http://www.bestbuy.com/site/3d-dlp-projector/2392017.p?id=1219072217080&skuId=2392017&st=optoma&cp=1&lp=1 This is the best your going to get for the money. But to make a 85 inch screen you will need to be 10 feet back.

I agree this is an awesome projector, am watching Big Bang Theory on mine as I type this :D

You are right, it has a long throw, I need almost 4 metres to get a 110" screen.
Its great value for money, pretty bright, 6000hr bulb life in Eco mode (good enough for normal use) and the bulbs are pretty cheap too.
It only has digital keystone correction so ideally the projector needs precise vertical location.
It must be mounted just above or just below the screen to not need any keystone correction.
3D is excellent using the cheap 144Hz Sainsonic glasses from Amazon.

If you can sort the above out, its worth every penny, a great projector.
