Projector question (pk301)

I just got a pk301 projector and had some questions regarding resolution. I plugged it in to my iPad and watched a standard def tv show off of iTunes at about 80-90 inches and was really impressed. I then plugged it into my HTPC and watched an amazon unbox movie and it seemed pretty out of focus along with the text displayed on my desktop. I realize it's a Pico and quality at the size of screen I have is not going to be optimal. The projector has a standard res of 854 X 480. My pc does not have that option, should I try and do a custom resolution and how do I do that or should I just leave it at the pcs resolution? Also does anyone know of a good cheap VGA switch so I can have my iPad and pc running to the projector? Last question if I split my VGA signal from the video card and have it run to my projector and a monitor that both have different resolutions will that be a problem? Thanks for your help.

So I figured out that amazon vid quality must just be worse than iTunes. Does anyone know of a good switch or receiver that could route 2 VGA devices and a few hdmi to my projector?

They will likely need to be 2 seperate devices. A VGA switch and an HDMI switch (though if you have a modern AV receiver it may be able to handle HDMI switching for you). 2 port VGA switch will be around $20.
