Projector not displaying video files

I have a client that is hooking a laptop up to an Optoma EP721 projector. The laptop is outputting the display that is on the screen much like you would expect it to. The only issue with it is that it doesnt display mpeg files. The windows media player comes up and displays on the screen of the laptop however on the projector display it shows windows media player but where the video would normally be playing it is black. I have only used mpeg files and havnt tried other formats as it is a client laptop and that is all they had on it at the time. It is being used for educational class purposes. I have not tried other media players either as I did not have internet access at the time either.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Assign the projector as the primary display or dont use the overlay to display video as it only works on the primary display with Nvidia hardware.

Ok I will try that. Ill be up at the clients office later this afternoon so i will see if it works. Thanks for the help.
