Projector image scrolling / not showing

Hi,

Recently the image I get when I plug my laptop into a projector is been scrolling, or not showing at all. i also get the message 'not supported' on some projectors, or 'out of range' and then displays some frequencies. Before it stopped working I didn't change anything regarding drivers, firmware, resolutions, etc.

I have tried cycling through the display modes using the function button on my laptop. I have also tried changing resolutions including 800x600 and refresh rate, repair installing XP, reinstall video drivers, change the video drivers. I have also tried with different projectors.

I have dual boot XP and Linux Ubuntu, and worringly it doesnt work in Linux Ubuntu either. It used to work fine in both O/S.

O/S: Dual boot XP professional SP3 / Linux Ubuntu 9.04

If it worked perfectly before, and the *only* thing that is the same between all tests is the hardware.... it's a hardware issue.
I assume you have tried a different video cable just to make sure the cable isnt bad?
Are you doing extended desktop or disabling the laptop screen and only using projector? If using both laptop and projector, disable the laptop screen next time. Maybe it's having issues outputting to two displays at once... Which would still be a hardware issue and is likely to get worse with time.

Unfortunately unless it's an issue with the external port itself (Perhaps it's shorted, or a cable inside came loose?), you might be on borrowed time with the video in there :(
 
Yes, I have tried with 3 different cables. I have also tried all display modes, including extended desktop, and black laptop screen with projector image only.

Its under warranty but I'll be without its use for a month at least, cause I'd have to send it all the way to China.

No chance its a firmware problem?
