Projector for apartment

I'm looking to buy a projector to display an image up to 12 feet diagonal, onto the wall in my new apartment. I'm considering getting a screen but let's start with the projector.

1080p would be preferred, but 720p would probably be fine too, I guess.

I am not sure whether 3-LCD or DLP is preferred for this kind of application, and submit myself to the knowledge of the gurus!

i am no guru.. but i have one in my condo.. mounted from the ceiling...

mine is not 720p or 1080p for that matter... it outputs 800x600 and xbox live and tv looked half decent on it. it is however a 3-lcd projector and i love it.
