since seeing a bunch of built from scratch cases ive decided to make my own.

inspiration:
1. the blizzard cube
2. the satanic cube
3. my pseudo btx case

what its going to be is a full tower size case completely done with acrylic. the outside shell is going to be the 2 way mirror kind of acrylic so when not powered on its going to look like a chrome box. but when turned on, all hell shall break loose (corny joke, i know).

hardware in this computer will be everything thats in my signature. i cant afford to buy all new crap

but basically this will be the layout for the computer.

hard drives:
hard drives will be on the bottom of the case at the front and mounted sideways so they are sitting on their sides. and the mount will be made completely of red acrylic. and the neat thing is i will be mounting a little devil statue right on top of the hard drive mounts. so when powered on and everything lights up. you will see him.

5.25 bays:
im doing this a little weird but it will look good in the end. im going to mount the cdroms and my cheap watercooling thingy on the back of the case near the top. yes, i said the BACK of the case. it is odd but im going for a clean look for the front.

motherboard:
this will be mounted in the middle/back of the case closer to the bottom. and the board will be flipped upside down so i can have it visible from teh right instead of the left side.

power supply:
i had trouble figuring out where it should be but i decided on putting it on the bottom of the case behind the mobo and mounted on its side to conserve space.

radiator:
im using my cheap radiator and it shall be mounted on the top closer to the front.

fans:
there will be 2 80mm red led fans on the front at the bottom. there will also be 2 more 80mm red fans mounted on the rear bottom right in front of the mobo. and there will be a 120mm at the top with a 80mm on either side of the radiator.

i know its hard to picture but its gonna look soo amazing when done. so when its off its going to look like a chrome box but when you power it on everything on the inside will light up red and it will look crazy. which is where the name silent hell came from.

ok i know these pics suck but i dont have the time or effort to cad everything out. but i basically just made a color-coded diagram to show the general location for everything.

i will be posting updates pretty regularly so be sure to check back later.

and any feedback or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I like ur idea. I had the same one with the mirror acrylic, but mines a 11" cube, not a tower

BTW, the 2 way mirror acrylic is hella expensive (well alot more than normal)

where can i get the mirrored acrylic. ive found a couple places but nobody says any specifics about it. ill be ordering it this friday so it would be good to know where im getting it from.

i actually just found what is basically a window tint that does the same thing and will only cost me like 25 dollars. which works for me better. if i just bought the 2way acrylic it would cost me upwards of 250 dollars for all of it. im just gonna get a big sheet of clear acrylic and use the privacy window tint. a more cost effective way to do it.

short update:

i purchased the 1/4" acrylic and 4 feet of 1"x1" acrylic tubing and a bunch of screws. as soon as the screws and tubing come in ill start the fabricating.

w00t first picture updates.

didnt get alot done but here it is.

first everything started out of this 24x48 piece of lucite acrylic.

first thing im starting with is the side panels. here it is before cutting

here it is after cutting. notice the horrible cutting job. lol. its ok though its going to be sanded smooth and flat. and no its not a chunk out in teh second pic. its just the protective plastic that i pulled up to make sure there was no scratching goin on. which there wasnt. w00t

and here is them all sanded up and smooth. so sidepanels are done!

for the cd drives and hard drives i decided to ressurect some panels from my old acrylic case. however the cd drives and hard drives will be separated so lets get some more measurements and cut em up. and im not worried about scratching em up cause theyll be painted later on.

yeah i know the cutting sucks but like i said before it will all be sanded down later by this guy. which is my favorite tool.

now onto the motherboard tray which i also ressurected from my old acrylic case. but it will need to be cut to the correct size. this will also be painted in the end.

alright folks thats all i got done today. i will post some more tomorrow.

thats what i said after i was done. lol.

it was nearly impossible to see my lines since when you cut acrylic it kinda melts.

oh well. the only thing that counts is that it looks good when finished.

oh yeah, acrylic stinks ass when you cut it.

little update. finished the hard drive and cd drive enclosures. they are just watiting to the hardware to arrive before painting. motherboard tray is also finished.

now for the really hard part. making the front, back, top, and bottom.

today i got the hard drive and cd drive mounts assembled and ready for sanding and painting. they look really crappy now but they will look good when finished. and i didnt mask them when cutting since they were gonna be painted anyhow.

here is the back plate for the motherboard also. took it from an old acrylic case. it will be sanded and painted also.

I'm just wondering, based on the name is this a Silent Hill inspired mod?

nope. i named it hat because since when its not powered on it will just be like a box of mirrors, because of the 2 way mirror effect when you power it on everything inside will light up red and there will be a devil statue thing standing in the front. so when you power it on its like youre turning on hell.

little update. now im into the purchasing part.

i have got the 6 foot piece of square acrylic rod in and cut it into 2 inch sections. its ready for screw mounts.

i also cut the hole for the front fans, top fan, fan controller in front, and the cd drive opening in the side.

im now at the point where i need the assembly hardware to get this thing put together
