Well ladies and gentlemen, here comes the culmination of my modding experience. My plans are for a quake 4 tribute box. work will progress, though slowly. I should have this completed by christmas...

what i've got to work with:

Ideas are numerous and changing so I won't bother posting my ideas list, just my work progress.

First off I cut the q4 symbol into the left side(it isn't totally cleaned up yet):

shows the cut panel and points out the fubar that i'm going to fix this week...

I am relocating the power button, led's, and the front usb. So, good old bondo on the bezel:

Thats my current progress. School work has me covered up...

I should have a good bit of progress after the weekend.

yeah I was wondering about that because from the symbol on the game box one thinks quake, not quake 4

what made you decide to use that case? it's not exactly that "gamer case" that's usually seen.

I'd assume cus it's just sitting there waiting for something to be done with it.

Sounds to me like he's having to make do with a case he's already got.....

this is a project for fun, and yes, i already had it sitting around. on top of it, i'd like to see how i can make this ole compaq come out :p

sure sure, whatever... I was just curious. I'd say once you bondo the front, relocate the USB ports and LEDs, it'll look pretty cool. I'll have to see how this one turns out.

I'm probably going to not even put a top fill layer of bondo on this thing. I'm going to leave it how it is(those scratches look much worse than they are) and use a textured paint. I hope to get a ton done this weekend, we'll see how it goes.

I actually like that case. Ok it needs a bit of tlc but definately has potential. Id prob rip the innards out and re-fit everything. From my experience compaqs tend to be quite cluttered inside.Looking forward to seeing what you do with it

Thanks guys. I'm still suprised by how well my cutting came out(despite the fubar when i was tryin out the carbide bit...oops...)

Belive it or not the insides of this thing aren't cluttered at all. Theres the rack at the top which is riveted in place, then theres the 2 bay 3.5 inch section that comes out with the removal of a few screws. Other than that, its empty in there. I'll get a pic of the insides for you guys soon.

couple of update pix...didn't get nearly as far as I had hoped this weekend.

Shotgun Shell brass to be used for the feet:

and lastly, some 45rpm record adapters that I found...i'm tryin to come up with a way to work them in(any ideas?) those things are about an inch and a quarter across btw.
