Im so sick of spening money on this case. This wood around here sucks horribly it splits so freaking easily.Im done with the idea of building a wood frame.Anyway to make this thing sturdy? Its gonna be like 24"tall 8"wide 18"long
Im for sure going to use l brackets to keep it nice and steady(DuH!)Will adding epoxy or something that drys clear to the seems also help?

Suggestions ideas.I was gonna get my dad to help, but I dont wanna be bother with him right now.So Im alone and I put my faith in your hands.

if each side of your case is built from one solid peice of wood and it fits together snugly, brackets arent really necessary and it will be sturdy. from what you are saying, it sounds like you're building the whole thing from 6" peices of 1x3. say it aint so.

I have two pieces that are 24 x 18 and I have to cut the front, back, top, bottom

Well I just put the chasis together and I dug up this article

http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cach...g+a+plexiglass+pc+case&hl=en&client=firefox-a

WTF some dude says that plexiglass attracts static electricity like a mutha.

..........Is this dude fa real?I just looked up like 5 people that made a complete case from plexi.I'm so mad  .Anyone know if this is true?If you've have experiences wit plexi cases can you tell me how to avoid killing my hardware?

My mobo is gonna be set on the oringal aluminum mobo tray.

I just looked up the electrical properties of plexiglass(polycarbonate)and its an insulator....So wtf?

only thing i can think of is that went macs use plastic for their cases, it's embeded with metal in the actual plastic mixture, making the plastic a conductor rather than an insulator. but that is a good question about whethre or not these clear cases ground anything.

i wouldnt be worried about the all plexy case, you would not be the first person to do it, and i have never heard of components getting fried from static cause of plexy. also they sell all sorts of all plexi cases.

if you are worried about your componnents not getting grounded (there is a ground on the molex's) you can just attack wires to everthing to your psu...

i fail to see the problem, but think you are just over worrying about nothing.

I guess I'll continue my quest..IM SCARED!!!!!!!!

I would have pics but I dont have a digi cam. When I got to quake con Im gonna try to get someone to take a pic and upload it onto my pc so I can post it.But my parents just got a whole buncha money for some home make over crap so we might be getting a digi cam.

i have been informed that grounding is not an issue, as the PSU grounds everything, but plexiglass cases get dirty really fast, and that EMI is only an issue with internal speakers.

you can always blow them out with a can of air. thats what I do. and my current box is going to be frosted. so it is not a big deal about the dirt to me. as far as stuff dying from plexi. never had a problem. screws, and bits, and dropping stuff on them yes. but never static kills

Can you tell me how to do this frosting?or send me a link.Im interested in this also, but ive only found 1 article and it sucked.Everyone is saying you have to use a sand blaster or some sort of laser cutter...Considering Im from a regular family I have no way to get ahold of those tools.I was wondering is sanding with regular sanding paper might get the effect.A lot of people are talking about some spray you can buy.I dont see it though.

Where's da pic's? They get touchy around here about Projects with no pics.... ;)

Send me a digi cam :p
Imma try to get someone to take a pic and Quakecon and upload it onto the website.I dont have a digi cam at the moment.

BUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I
So no one knows the art of frosting?Any tips anything?

Yea I just sanded it and it looks nice. Now I gotta figure outta how to cut this junk.Using the utility knife takes foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I wish my family had enough sense to invest in some tools. But they dont.So right now I'm gonna chill and see how much money I have in my bank once I get my check in and I might go buy something to cut this junk with.

Im thinking about just buying a premade case and making the frost effect on it.
Or I might go to Wal-Mart and see what kind of tools they have to offer.

If you look through the case mod gallery, there's this one guy who used a type of frosting sticker with excellent results. The thread title is something like "Frosted Case". Also, when I was at a hardware store the other day, I saw a bottle of lacquer in the spray paint section that supposedly gave a frosted effect when sprayed onto acrylic. Not sure how good it'll look but for 8$ CAD you can't really go wrong.
