For my sisters 14th Birthday I plan to build her a budget PC with "Girly" looks. All she plays is the Sims 2 and sits on MSN Messenger.

The plans:

Use my old case, monitor, keyboard, power supply and everything else.

Planned System Specs:

Only goal is to have a case she will like. Which means it has to be pink. And as much of it as possible. Fans, cold cathodes, the case itself, everything. I plan to cut the bottom out and put plexi in its place so the comp will glow pink under the comp.

Tomorrow this:



Will be sanded and sprayed with PPG Pink Paint and 3 Coats of Clear. It will be a mirror finish as you will see this week.

More upddates tomorrow when I am awake.
 
I'll be watching this. My Girl Friend would like something like this but LimeGreen. Her P42.8 is dying. I have a old gateway case, a truepower, and a soon to be spare 3200+. I can pick up a stick of 512mb from a friend for $25. Time for a Belated 2nd Christmas Gift.
 
Wow, after just looking around for a few mins I have realized that I am buying myself a 320GB Hard Drive and will give her my 80GB one. May also giv her my Mobo and Processor in favor for a P4 or AMD 64. Also the due date for this is February the 27th, her B-Day is the 28th.

I was going to do the case either pink or lime green. Since I am very good at painting (I have my own compresssor, filters, paint gun, etc.) I can lay down one good paint job on this case, I've painted cars, trailers, many things, and decided I can try this out on my old comp. I may do the inside lime green but am unsure the the moment. I may do pink outside, and green lighting on the inside. I hate being pressed for time.
 
UPDATE: FINALLY ordered MYSELF some rounded IDE Cables. She can have my old ones or the ones that come with my new HD.

I decided not to winodw the case on the side, but add a 120mm fan. Though I do not know where exactly to find a "pink" fan.

Got some custom mixed PPG Pink w/silver metal flak today. Will prime and prep case tomorrow morning and hopegully spray and clear in the afternoon. Hoping to have pics up by 7pm tomorrow. As for the inside of the case....where can I find pink and lime green LED fans/cold cathodes.
 
Going to prime in about 2 hours, For the cd drives (CD-RW and regular 52x CD-Rom) I am trying to decide to stealth them or not, I may just be painting the bezels pink though. Also if I could find a "The Sims 2" Case badge that would be awesome.

About to update my sig..

Anyways, just ordered a AMD 2800+ which will go in mine and my 2600+ will go in her's. I also got her 512MB of DDR333 which will be fine since all she plays is The Sims :p . I will be ordering a power supply soon but don't know which one yet. Also I will paint the CD-Drive Bezels Lime Green. Can't wait till its saytime to snap some pics of the PPG Radiance Pink Custom Color ($35 for a half pint, I usually pay $20 for a QUART of regular paint)

Case will be assembled in approx 10 hours. Then I will try to get an assembled pic up. After that I'm pretty much waiting on parts to come in. I haven't decided on what PSU to get or video card. I may just give her my Ti4800 and get me something newer that's around the $150 range.

Got these in today. Wow!...That was some insane fast shipping and great price! $3 a cable w/FREE shipping! Acortech gets a 10/10! One round cable for my computer, one for hers. Mine goes from Mobo to DVD-RW, hers will go from Mobo to HD.

I will wire manage my case soon...I will also be trying to do her case very well also, mainly just for airflow purposes though.

I need to order 2 more Silver Round Cables for my Mobo to HDs and her Mobo to CD Drives. Will do that today. Other than that I'm leaving today and wont be back for about 12 hours. I will reply to any posts then.
 
Ordered 2 Silver 18" Dual Device Rounde IDE Cables from SuperGoodDeals.com along with a 600 Watt Power supply. Once that goes in the system should be ready to boot and install XP and the Sims2 so the day she gets it she can play it and never sleep again. She thinks I'm getting her a Cell phone bable for her phone for her birthday and has no idea. Can't wait to see her reaction to walking on her room to a new PC sitting there. She'd be shocked at a PC, let alone this one is so bright pink and lights up green. She won't understand the purpose of round cables or anything, just if it plays the Sims2 and looks good she'll be happy.
 
Debating on wheter to paint the drive bezels green or black or leave them beige....Can't make up my mind. Also will be running a switch to control the fans. Will have pics of that up soon. Everything except the HD goes in this week!
 
The paint looks nice! I built a PC for my girlfriend's birthday with a Pink/Black theme. Pink parts were hard to find but i found some pink LEDs here. I found some fans that looked pink but they turned out too red so I just replaced the LEDs myself with the ones i bought. I stealthed the drives but I painted the drive trays pink and it turned out nice! Hope I could help. Good luck!
 
The Green LED Fans came in today from CoolerMaster. WOW those fans are quiet compared to my no name blue LED fans.
 
The Dual Device Round Cables will be here on the 10th. Hopefully I can get this thing together and start installing XP by the 20th.
 
Cool stuff. As for the drive covers, pink would look good imo. Pink or black, not green.

The next time someoen asks how to make a computer people wont steal say make it bright pink. That way if they do steal it you just have to ask witnesses if they saw anyone running around with a bright pink case. :D

I dont understand the pink and lime green concept though... Do females like colors that are just really harsh to my eyeballs? Though other than it being the inverse of pink, I dont see how they can match nicely :confused: Lime green...
 
Most purses and stuff you see girls carrying around are pink and lime green. I don't know how it works, but according to them "Men have no taste in Style"
 
Update:

Got the Mobo, CPU, and case fans installed. CD Drives go in tomorrow probably, then the PSU and dual device round cables. Then the HD and I fire this baby up for the 1st time!.
 
Everything is in the case!....except a HD which I do not know what I'm putting in there yet. Gonna be so nice when she sees this sitting in her room next month.

"Men have no taste" so how about cyan/blue CD bezels?... wait, that wont work either :( fans are already green.

Are you SURE it is Green ON Pink and not Green OR Pink? I mean, I like seafood and I like icecream, but I never thought of seafood-flavored icecream (hmm, i might like it! :D). No really, have you really seen pink & green purses!!!???

edit: hey! if you get lucky and it is not green on pink, you could make it blue on pink and use the new fans on your rig and the blue ones on hers :cool:
 
Serously, Pink and Green, seriously. Jackets and evrything. You know them super preppy girls? Them kind.

Dark purple sounds good though...
