Okay guys ive been lurking on these forums for almost an entire year and now here i am about to do my first pc mod ( unless you count the time i tried to put a window in side of my antec case ) I recently purchased a PowerMac G4 (Mirrored front) case off ebay for $1.25 ( pics to come..) Im looking for any advice anyone has for experience or links for other worklogs! Like HTF am i gonna get a power supply in this damn thing! hah. Expect photo updates soon.


Heres the list of things "To Do" so far

1. Solution for drab metal inside... paint? i'd love to use the Do It Yourself Bedliner spray.. give it that rubberized/bumpy feel inside.. is that safe?

2. 3" - 4" LCD screen for the front... above the drive bays where the speaker was.

3. Removing the paint from the clear side panels and replacing with a HQ Paint.

4. Custom Backplate ( you'll see why when i upload pics )

5. Any suggestions!



PICS! yeah i know it took me awhile and im sorry :( and NO i wasnt trying to break any rules just anxious to get feedback..




the first two images are just of the default case for the most part...before i purchased the case i wish i would have known what i was getting into on the front for the optical drives




these next two pics are kind of a before and after of what has been done to the back of the case to allow the addition of a PC motherboard...im no expert at this! so..yeah feel free to criticize my workmanship




heres a glimpse into the inside of the case..as you can see no cdrom cage :( and ive cut the area for the motherboard down to allow me to fit one in. i have a better picture of where the powersupply is supposed to sit in that upper right corner but i have NO idea what im going to be able to do to mount it.




these last two shots are of where im going to try and fit the dvdrw and dvdrom and possibly where i'll be able to custome mount a power supply!

Thats all of the images for now.. ive been extremely busy but i hope this gives me some good feedback on how to approach this mod.. if i havent already screwed it up

Those are general guidelines, not rules. Besides, we have mods for a reason.


The bedliner spray may cause a problem with the motherboard area, as it may be too thick and touch the underside of the motherboard, or it may be too thick to screw the motherboard in. It may not, though, and it could be an interesting effect. Maybe if you painted it in earth-y looking tones you could have it look like rock.

Always interesting to look at mac mods.

Edit: Wait, a G4 case for $1.25? Holy crap. I need to find one of those.
 
i understand the rules now. i guess i overlooked that the *first* post needed pictures. i should have them tonight :] thanks for the heads up on the motherboard part.. maybe i can mask tape the back off. g4 mods?! where! i must be blind and have horrible internet researching skills.. i looked all over and found -very- little.
