Project: Gr1zz

dead links FTL!!! :(

Yeah, right after i posted, my hosting decided to make fun of me. :rolleyes:1&1:rolleyes:
I was hoping no one would notice until it came back =-)

Awesome gallery man, I definitely need to go next year. Where abouts do you live? I'm here in Southern NH.
I'm from Plymouth NH, but I live in Eastern MA currently. If you go to the next one look me up! Ill gladly share a frosty cold one with a fellow [H] brotha'. They are already trying to get Intel to host it again on their campus in the fall, Its a much smaller room, but they had internet and a free soda fountain at the last one.

very nice stuff bro :) I hope to be at the next storm!
Same goes for you FrEaKy. :)

Nice work man! :D

But wtf, a LAN-party at that size with NO INTERNET?!?! Gotta be booooring.
I came to play BF2 and CS:S so technically I did not need internet, but it was a pain because every game loads slower when its searching for a connection, If you needed a patch they had a internet booth so you had to sneakernet patches (I guess I could have posted from there). My Wife was really at a loss because she was expecting to play WoW, and try LOTRO and couldnt do anything. It was funny, she was playing solitaire on her XPS for a couple hours until she left for wallmart to buy a game.

After a couple hours they routed a connection to Steam servers but no surfing.

Maine for me.... It shouldnt be to hard to shoot down to MA though

Maine for me.... It shouldn't be to hard to shoot down to MA though

Heh, I was wondering that "gu-bangor.com". People have driven farther. ;)

Back on the topic of the Gr1zz mod. I am seeking a "usb header extension cable" (male to Female) so I can wire up the front USB ports that are really far away, all i can find are the 1x5 ones, and I need a couple 2x5 ones. If I cant find them Ill just have to buy a bunch of the more expensive small ones.:(

Probably not it

This could be it

Not sure if either of those are what you are looking for tho.

Great job given the time you had to complete everything!!! This was one of the logs that got me motivated to start mine. Thanks!

Do you know if the Eheim pump is effected in any way by the position it's installed in? I've got an HPPS & have thought about mounting it vertically as well.

As an eBay Associate, HardForum may earn from qualifying purchases.
The pump is mounted Normally, and not Eheim, but I have never seen anyone reporting issues mounting it in any direction.

The first link is not it, but if you look the cables on the item in the first link are too short, thats what i need extra length of.

I keep looking at it and thinking about what I need to do to make it look better. I picked up some really super fine steel wool, I will try that on a scrap piece and see what it does to the finish.

I have also thought about painting it, or painting some of it, but I am still unsure. Even if i managed to get the speaker grill like material I wanted to use to make it, it would be a PITA to remake that piece.

We will see. I need to do everything I want to do to the case before I start redoing parts. ;) But I agree it does not look finished there.

Edit: Arcygenical also suggested home anodizing.

Still looking :)

Would this work?

Feel like soldering???? http://www.frontx.com/pro/p1082_030.html

Making your own????

As far as painting:
I've actually put some thought into this & changed my mind:

Congrats to warmace, being nominated for May Hard[O]cer of the month! :) GO GO GO BRO!

Who..wha..where?

Sorry for a little lack of posting, but the mod is far from over.

Indignity, I think your first link will hit the spot, i can make my own male-male adapters using some solid wire. As a matter of fact I'm ordering them right now.

I'm Thinking about painting the grille, I don't know, it needs to match the rest of the case somehow.

Thank you! I guess I should get back to working on it, took around a week off to actually game on it and its nice to run every single thing on max. Dual screen Supreme commander is great, hope many-many games follow its lead.

So I ordered the USB header cables (thanks for the find Indignity) so those are in the mail soon. Started looking at some kind of white lighting to hide under the video card to help the components under it so you can see them in a reflection on the internal baffle. I may just wire my own white LED so I will get just the right brightness.

If you did not notice I have to make one more mirror wall for opposite the mobo to completely enclose the "Mobo area". I got the Plexi' for that piece, just need to make it.

I also need to get cracking on the Overclocking, kind of a shame not to have made progress there yet.

I did not know Hard[DC]er of the month was up to a vote, always thought it was a contest of sorts, anyway, VOTE FOR ME! =-)

hehe, they started the vote for the winner of the month after they tallied nominations for it. I and someone else shot your name across as a nomination...... people that do total modifications are hard-oc'ers in my mind! :) Congrats!

Btw, I absolutly loved the way this mod has been turning out, cannot wait to see the updates on it! :)

Sorry you didnt get hard'ocer of the month bro.... you hit a great second place finish though.... that was awesome! :)

Thanks,

Its O.K., not winning May has inspired me to add 4 more headless box3n to the [H]ord, and race for 1k completed work units. So maybe Ill get June?

I haven't had any posts in a while because I ordered the cables suggested above and they took 2 weeks to arrive. Plus I have been doing some much awaited gaming. Sadly with my PC offline I missed early signup for the AgeOfConan.com Beta, hopefully having a DX10 ready box will put me ahead of the record 200,000 applicants in front of me.

My media server is changing from MS to Linux so there might be a temp outage of images in this thread tonight until I upload them at the new server.

Had my first leak also this week. The thermostat T-Line started a pin hole leak into the case. I heated the hot glue and pressed it down harder to hopefully seal it better. Luckily rather than dripping straight onto the video card, it ran along the hosing and into the bottom of the case. A bonus to having the top window is i glanced and noticed the foam in the fluid instantly.
