I started getting back into the custom scene in October when I started heavily building computers at work, the bug got me! I am starting this build from ground zero including my desk. I have been taking pictures along the way and I am still changing and moving into more in depth mods in my project. I hope to get compliments and some help along the way.

First, here is a picture of the old P4 setup I have had for the past couple years:

IMG_1401.JPG

The basis for my new rig started out as a good foundation to do my Web Design and 3D Animation but quickly turned into wanting more POWER! My original plan was below:

Intel Q6600
Antec P182 Case
EVGA 680i mobo
4gb Gskill Ram
Corsair 650hx ps
Dual 8800GTS 640's
Tri- 22" Monitors

I will start with pictures of where I started and move on from there.

The Desk: It measures 6'W x 2'D, I needed enough room for my new monitors.

Case: Antec P182

First Shipment: You will notice here that I have a Dtek block. I was interested in watercooling and started buying my pieces.

Motherboard: EVGA 680i A1 New Version.

Case: Antec P182 mid tower.

Case: Someone gave me a really good tip and told me if I planned on watercooling to drill my mobo tray where the blocks mount.

Monitors: This is a picture of my Dell monitor shipment, yep 3 brand new 22's.

Finished case: This is everything installed and ready to go. If you notice in the picture I am using ddr2 533 from my old p4 to get things running until the Gskill comes.

At this point is where I found that the 2 8800 GTS 640mb cards weren't going to cut it. I also found out the Q6700 didn't have a locked multiplier and that I would get a lot better performance from 2 150gb Raptors! I also decided to upgrade to the Corsair 750 and get a black chassis for my tower. I also bought an Ultra Microfly case to house all of my watercooling components. I ordered the stuff and it came in all nice, pic.

While in the middle of all these new parts EVGA came out with the 780i board and I just had to have it!

Near the end of it the EVGA 8800 GTS 512's came out and I bought 3, 2 are pictured.

Hand drilled tiny holes, I'm debating drilling four big holes and putting screen behind them.

Radiators installed with fans, Harley tour pak spacers for clearance and airflow:)

Everything except power supply installed in the microfly, this is where I am currently.

I have more of the desk done in this pic and I have also added a 4th monitor just for my 360! (Yes, that is 125 Xbox 360 games!)

nice setup. sick WDP desk mat. never actually owned an angel but i liked how some of them shot.

Wow! Aweosme work so far, wish I had the time/money for something like that...

very nice eq setup there buddy

Talk about progress, haha. From that little corner desk and p4 all the way to all this custom stuff. Nice set up for sure though. Should be real nice when it's all complete. What'd you end up doing with all the gear from round 1 of ordering new parts? Sell it all for the replacements, or are you just gonna do a second build with it all?

Holy, crazy money man.

That is a sweet setup that I don't think many of us could envision, much less afford, in our wildest dreams.

Thanks for all the wonderfull replies, makes me feel good about it! I am still working on it and it has been a big project. This has taken some time to get this far. My next objective is to finish the desk out and put up the rest of my shelves. I have held out on the watercooling until spring so I can get some electrical ran. I have so much electronics on one circuit that I don't want to chance a fire, been there before:(

Anyway thanks for the replies and I'll keep updating as I go along!

Thanks,
Ryan

ill bet you $1000 that you live in a trailer!

I have that same type of "corner" in my trailer.

Awesome work so far. I will be building me a desk soon, but I am debating whether or not I should build in the "corner" or somewhere else. I am going to using oak though, Soft wood does not go well with me, I end up scratching the hell out of it.

Your using white pine right?

Also how did you fasten those boards down? Maybe a picture??

Thanks.

Tyler

I think your right, that might be a trailer, especially since the ceiling is angled the way it is. So THAAAAATS how he has the spare cash to get all that stuff :D

I live in a bouble wide which I own!

The wood is white pine and on the desktop I am cvering it with tempered glass with a black background.

Thanks,
Ryan

Nice job man. The only thing I would do is add on to your desk right in front of the monitors so it is square to you instead of the corner. Other than that nice.

Also what do you do for a living?

I noticed on your website you had a bunch of barns and houses that are tore up....construction maybe?

How sturdy is that desk with it just being screwed into the wall? I would think you would want a little bit more support than strait from the desk into some studs.

Yeah, I was just gonna say, all you need now to finish it off is a real nice set of speakers.

How sturdy is the desk you ask, well I weigh 175lbs and I can jump up and down on it and not hear a sound one from the wood. I think it's sturdy enough to hold my computer equipment then!

As far as what I do, thats a little personal.

Subscribed!!!
Dude this is sooo fr1k1n awesome!!

Your doing awesome!

Good God what a terrific work! Lotsa pics too.

I bow in your general direction.

Do you whore your self out to fat chicks?

Also very very nice monitors.

Thanks guys! All the wonderful comments are overwhelming!!!

I do warranty for Harley Davidson if you must know! I work full time and I take night classes full time for Web design.

They're going to put your picture next to the word upgrade. Awesome work!

I would however...recommend changing the wallpaper. :p

Damn damn damn! You must have a lot lot of money ? What do you do for a living ?

I've actually got a friend that does airbrush that is going to take care of the wallpaper for me!

I don't have as much money as you would think, I just know how to spend it right and when to make my deals!

Nice Setup. I built a very similar desk/workstation. Just need to finish painting it and i'll post some pics. But great work on everything!

have you thought about putting some kind of finish on the wood?

THe bare wood itself gives me bad thoughts about splinters

WOW this made my heart stop! Lol but seriously this is one hella nice setup, the best i have seen! That desk and everything is awesome! Did you sell all your old parts?

very impressive to say the least. Love the desk, I've been looking for one and I may have to try that route.

He cannot do TriSli with the 8800GTS 512MB cards. Only GTX and Ultras do Tri. Great setup man. Lovin it.
