One of the awesome perks of Project Fi is that... It works pretty much everywhere.

I've been on vacation for the last 10 days or so in Istanbul and Athens. Great experience - had no issues whatsoever. Data cost me barely anything at $10 / GB. Of course, I used WiFi while in a hotel.

I'm posting this from Toronto, waiting for my flight to Chicago.

So yeah, thumbs up to Google!

Just a public service announcement, I guess.
 
I keep forgetting that Project Fi has incredibly good travel policies. It's probably cheaper than getting a local or roaming-specific SIM if you're not going to go overboard with data use. Now if only you could use it with non-Nexus devices for more than data...
 
Uhmm.... You do realize that the rates for Project Fi are the same for talk as t-mobile except your paying for data where as its Unlimited for free with all T-Mobile post paid plans.

International Plans | Traveling Abroad without Roaming Fees | T-Mobile

Canada & Mexico are the only things I can find that dont fit the above & thats just because Tmo has the North American plans so they are covered just exactly like the US.

T-Mobile gives you only very basic speeds with its free roaming. Project Fi, as I understand it, gives you full speed on the networks you connect to.

Wrong. Data speed is limited to 3G while roaming, same as TM. The Project FI is basically a TM network with addition of the Sprint.

hmz is correct. Project Fi does not have international roaming agreements, its simply using the ones T-Mobile already has in place.
