Hello all. this will be a new thread for my scratch build, "Entropy" it is my very first build, so it may not be perfect, but whatever it turnes out to be like, im sure il be happy with it. here are some pictures of components that will be used in the desk.

and here is a picutre of my current, messy build al of this build will be moved inside my new build, apart from the motherboard, i have a new motherboard on the way from Asus.

IMAG0313.jpg

as you can see, i already have two gtx 480's in there one watercooled, and one air cooled. the other two are not used yet as there simply not enough room. one is sitting in my box! and the other one is inside my brothers pc.

More pics to come, by next week end i will have some solid pictures of the desk itself. but for now, here are sketchup pics of the desk.

at the top, there is enough room to fit two, 560mm quad radiators, which will be placed there soon, i have already ordered one SrR-1 560mm quad radiator, i still need to buy the second one! :)

Lookin forward to this! I really like the angles and paneling of the desk, but do you think 2 legs is enough to support the weight of all the internals?

well it will be wall mounted, so i hope it is enough, if it isnt. then i will use some sort of support from the front corners too, for example a set of mini file drawer.

Got one of my Hardware Labs Black Ice SR Series 560mm Quad Radiator, and... this thing.. is... HUGE!

IMAG0320.jpg

and a comparison with my current triple 360mm radiator, and just to remember.. im having TWO of these beasts in my desk!

More updates on some parts.... ive decided i want my blocks to be shiny.... sooo im going to de-anodize my EK gtx 480 backplates.

started off like this...
IMAG0324.jpg

and during the de-anodization process

IMAG0322.jpg

updates to come soon... :)

What are you using to de-ano?

i use heavy duty drain cleaner with very hot water. place the anodized part in a plastic container, fill it with water, just enough to cover the part. then put some of the drain cleaner over the part, it starts to bubble instantly, dont breathe fumes in, it burns your nostrils like hell :p

so this is what im left with after de-anodizing, now all i have to do is remove some smaller anodes with high grit wet and dry, and then use higher wt and dry to smoothen the area then use aluminum polish to make a mirror finish.

IMAG0325.jpg

i liked how the backplates turned out... so i did it on all 4 of them. ad then sanded them down, now all i need is to polish them.

Okay so table arrived from my friends dads workshop, its looking pretty good! next step is to get the divider aluminum piece and the top piece where the radiators mount. and after that i need to start buying some aluminum square tubes and get them welded on, BUT i need so buy some more hardware tools ;)

and here is one with the motherboard placed, its in static bag as there is no standoffs.

IMAG0347.jpg

Okay here is some more updates. got the other pieces of aluminum, the inner compartment and the top part where the radiators and the monitor will be placed.

IMAG0352.jpg

IMAG0353.jpg

next step is to cut holes. weld and make room for my knees on the table.

More will come. so far, i have cut down all aluminium to size, next step is to weld.

here is what the table will look like, the top part and the the middle divider.

the middle divider is a little tall, so i need to cut it down to size.

IMAG0357.jpg

odered 5 meters of aluminum tube to make the table bracket. should hopefully arrive soon..... more to come..

updates, managed to get an old case from a friend who owns an internet caffe! free of charge as well!

the case did not have a removable motherboard tray, but i decided il hack it up with my trusty dremel and make myself a cheap mobo tray! works like a charm.

the backplates have been polished, its not perfect, but itl do me good! im pretty impressed with how it turned out from being black anodized to mirror finish

the chrome vinyl on the blocks has some ripped edges where the screws are, they will be fixed soon!

okay, long time! but here is a little update, ive changed the aluminium tubes for legs to wooden box sections as its cheaper... and much easier to work with, and it saves me the time and effort of taking it to the welders etc.

i know its not much, but im getting there and this project is not dead... ive invested too much money for it to die ;)

also, as for specs, i no longet will be doing a quad gtx 480 sli as ive sold them all, and bought my self a gtx 690. i will be watercooling that and might even buy a nother for quad sli 690 ;)

as for motherboard, my p6t7 ws sc broke, so im temporarily using amd 8 core  and i absolutly HATE it... no offence to AMD fans, but my i7 970 6 core.... bare in mind,,, the FIRST gen intel cpu....is faster than this AMD fx 8320 8 core in all of my games.. i have to run GW 2 in medium settings... i used to run it on max.. i miught be upgrading to LGA 2011...

aanyway, back to the thread.. here are some pics! :)

more updates, i got the knee room welded up, and got the res mounted on and also made the MCP-655 with ek top look very nice and sleek by drilling a whole and mounting it like that.

tomorrow everything will be welded up, and i will order the glass top. pictures will come tomorrow! :)

i know the last post said pictures "tomorrow" but i was busy, so pictures are today! :D its not much, but its getting there! almost finished, ive ordered the glass top, i just need to wait for it to arrive, next up is painting and reinforcing the wooden legs.

need to file down the fan holes to make them smooth and nice, but here are the pics.

and here is the pic of the pc i will be using inside the desk, ignore the cpu heatsink that was there because i didnt want to bother with watercooling on the table.

aha!! thanks man :D i thought no one cared because no one replied since ages :D

glad you like it :)

A follower of this thread, one thing to know about [h] build logs. They don't always get so many comments, but they get many viewers and subs if deserved. If you want loads of comments and replies, head to OC.net or some other forum.

Keep up the works

heh yeah dont worry about it xilvia. i check back here every time theres a new post. just not a lot to see, so not a lot to say. once you start getting some paint on it and some components in there and WC hooked up, you will see more comments. :)
