This is my first modding experience by the way, so don't expect a totaly brillant looking mod like other's on this site.

Hey I am finally doing some small mods to my Thermaltake Xaser III case for an upcoming lan event called Blam (The Blam name has nothing to do with the theme of the case I am going for at all, its just the reason I am modding my case)and for now I have just taken off the top has you can see if the pic below, I am cutting a window into the top and side window to show off my hardware of course, and maybe a AMD64 Logo mod on the other side but I am not sure I can do it though just have to wait and see I surprise and I am making some custom harddrive trays (only downfall though is I can only use 2 harddrives, unless I either change the design or make it so 2 more site on top of the 2 that are going on the back board were the motherboard sits).

Here what I have done far,


I am going to be doing more on wednesday at my cousins house because I dont have good enough tools and experience on all of this.

Also I was thinking of painting the inside of it but I dont know what color, the hardware parts I have consist of red leds being on the bottom area of the motherboard (and underneth, Fatal1ty AN8 board you see), while I top half is blue, so if you can think of a good color that I might like then please post it done so I can think about it, I was actualy thinking of painting it black but I am not 100% sure though.

Well be sure to come back on wednesday or thursday with the updates.

Mods have been done but they are not that good so I am not going to put them up here unless someone asks.
 
Sorry for the triple post and also yes I change my mind has you can see.

Here are the mods but please note that there are still mods yet to be done that I will post later on when they are done.

Here's the top window, I am going to be taking out the window to reglue and to also Cut out Three 120mm fan holes, yes I said three :D.


Top window again with fan, again to be redone.


Side Panel, yes not that best but it will do.


Custom Hard drive Tray, I may redo these also.


Front intake fans, I was actually thinking of putting an 120mm fan in there, but I dont think I will


Metal Shavings, need to make sure all of this stuff is out because if it isnt, it will f**k up my hardware which I really do not want to happen.


So yeah those are the mods that I have gotten done, has you may of seen in those pics that the motherboard tray and other things have been painted black, well half painted, what I am doing is going to cut of holes in the motherboard so that the cables can be gone basicly, so once that is done I will paint it all black.

The mods may not be 100% like other mods on this site, but they are good enough for me, it actually suits the other theme I was looking for which was in between old and rugged, and nice and perfect or clean if you will.

so yeah please post comments, crits anything on it if you will, I don't mind.
 
Brought 2 120mm fans the other day, going to be buying 3/4 more.




Two are going up top like so, while 1 is going in the back for exhaust air, 1 at the Front for intake air, and another 1 on the side window.

yes work is slow.

Well I have the fans for the top window and side window, just need to get them cut :D, modding has been put to the side alittle for some other reasons like R/C Truck :D, but there should be updates later sometime, if not Friday or Saturday, but yeah I am taking me time on this, so please be patience if ya can.

Well I finally have the top fans installed, it didn't go 100% well more like 95% the way I wanted it to go, but still I will just leave it the way it is, the only thing I have to do with the top window is to repaint.

Has you may see in those pics, is the hole for the fans airflow to go is not 100% good, but I am going to hunt down some grills so that I can hide it a little and too give it some style, another thing you may notest is the front fan is slightly turn which in person isnt that much notestable .

Next mod is tell glue the side window onto the side panel, and to cut another hole for another 120mm fan that is going on there, I may have that posted tonight also but just don't wait.

Also I am thinking of painting the inside white to give it some highlights instead of having the whole case just black, but I may change me mind again.

Well I my dad cut out the back fan hole for the 120mm fan, we just need to file it so its not so sharp. I didn't end up getting the side window done, (been looking up Radio Controls Nitro Trucks because I am buying one in about 4weeks).

oh by the way there isnt a picture yet because me batteries died, recharging them though.

The side panel should be done next week, yes thats a week away from now has you may heard I am talking this slowly, but the complete date I am aiming for is end of july/ start of August, because that's is when the new lan that my friend if making, we did have another but the ended it related to poor management, but that's for another day.

I have made my mind up, I am going to be painting the whole frame white, here's a pic of the white I want, if any of yous know what kind of white it is, I would appreicate if ya tell me,

Here is the list I just made for the other mods I have to get done,

  • Glue Side Window onto Side Panel
  • Cut out 120mm fan hole for the Side Window.
  • Drill small holes on the motherboard to install hard drives.
  • Mark and cut out holes on the motherboard tray to hide cables behind it.
  • Wash out the case for metal shavings and such.
  • Then paint the frame white (same white in pic hopefully)
  • Repaint top panel and side panel again.
  • Check to make sure everything is done.
  • Reinstall the hardware.
  • When everything is done then, turn it on and hope everything worked out right.
  • Then around end of July, start of August take to the new L an where I live and show it off to ppl.

Well I didn't end up getting anything done, been getting into Radio Control Nitro Truck lately so the mod has been put on hold, hope yous understand.
