Hi guys
I've been off the scene for quite some time now... In fact I haven't done any major mod for over a year now. Been cought with all sorts of thing... Plus with all the premods invasion I kinda got fed up with it... But lately after seeing some worklogs in here (i.e. CrimsonSky : dude you got WAY too much talent) I got the modding fever back.
It all started with a new speaker set...
So for quite some time now I didn't use speakers on my computer anymore. I've got a very good pair of Sony MDR Headphones and I love them. Now I've got a great deal on some logitech Z-560. Ok so here's the deal I've got 2 main computers, one is for gaming and the other's for application and stuff... The Gaming system as an Hercules Game Theater XP wich is a PCI sound card with an external rack with all imaginable audio connectors while the other comp as an Hercules DJ Console. What I wanted to do is use my speaker on both systems. Easy, linked both card with an optical cable. Oh Right ! now I want my TV to use the speaker too. So I used an RCA cable and plugged it in the card's input. Everything works perfectly. But....
The desk is a freaking mess !!! All these wires everywhere !
Eh long story just for that huh ? Anyway most of you will just skip to the pics.
So I had all these parts lying around and one day something in my head just clicked.
I decided to make a small rack for the external sound cards.
I also had PSone LCD and a BG Micro VFD in my spare parts so I decided to incorporate them as well.
I'm gonna make the rack with 3/8" Plywood wich is gonna be painted black
so enough with the chit chat here's some pics.
These are the parts I refered to earlier
That's my workspace outfited with everything I need
Table Saw, great for cutting plywood
Mock up... trying to figure what angle I want the DJ console to be at
(parts are lying on their side and I rotated the picture)
sides glued and nailed to bottom
This picture shows how the parts are going to sit in it
Put the top on temporaly to see how it looks
Still need to cut it out to allow access to the DJ Console
Back side
So that's the progress for now.
I still have to cut the hole in the top piece for the DJ Console, make the front and back panel.
I'm not telling you where I'm putting the LCD and VFD yet. Keeping it for later...
stay tuned !
